The Vice
Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur
Prof. Dr. Belal A. Khan has said that in
the contemporary age, the field of science
has experienced very rapid growth and to
keep pace with the latest development, measures
are being taken in Pakistan as well, to
bring the country at par with the developed
countries. In this regard the opportunities
for research may be provided for the students
to excel in this field through the experience
of renowned scientists and put Pakistan
prominently among the community of nations.
He expressed these views while inaugurating
the first ever International workshop on
the topic of semi conductor materials and
nano devices. The two day workshop is being
organized by Department of Physics IUB with
the Collaboration of Higher Education Commission,
National Commission for Nano Science and
Technology (NCNST) and Khan Research Laboratories
(KRL) at Abbasia Campus. Three Physicists
from USA and one from Sweden are also participating
in this exclusive event.
Prof. Dr. Belal A. Khan said that this workshop
has provided a rare opportunity to the students
of their relevant field of science and the
length of time duration must not be taken
into consideration, while seeking knowledge,
through the exclusive research papers of
the renowned Physicists, as such opportunities
are blessed once in a blue moon.
He expressed his pleasure on the performance
of the Department of Physics IUB and the
organizing of the International event is
a proof of their achievements.
He also hoped that faculty of IUB would
be able to renovate their science laboratories
with latest equipment and our total output
in the coming years would be commendable.
Prof. Dr. Belal A. Khan said that the present
advancement in nano technology would benefit
the humanity in many ways as it would revolutionize
textile, cosmetics, food, water, new resources
of energy, robotics and oncology sectors.
Hence the significance of semi-conductor
technology would further come to the fore.
He further said that to meet this challenge
we would have to organize more workshops
and seminars on this issue to get our physicists
take benefit from the latest research and
share their experience with their counterparts
from other countries through interaction
and exchange of views in a conducive and
friendly atmosphere.
Prof. Dr. Belal A. Khan elaborated the IUB
efforts to organize International conferences
on Political Science, Pharmacy, Seerat-un-Nabi
(SAW) and Quranaic teaching during the past
two and a half year, to let the students
and faculty reap benefit through these significant
event.
Earlier in his welcome address the Principal
Organizer, Dr. Asghar Hashmi, presented
the aims and objectives of the workshop
and expressed his gratitude to the foreign
delegates for acceding to his invitation
and coming all the way from United State
and Sweden.
He also thanked the HEC for generously funding
a huge amount of ten million Rupees to IUB
Physics department for establishing a modern
Physics Laboratory and for the research
projects granted to faculty science.
He lauded the sincere efforts of the Vice
Chancellor IUB Prof. Dr. Belal A. Khan for
taking initiative in providing the students
and faculty members of the IUB to excel
in their particular field of studies through
the staging of national and international
conference fuquenthy.
Renowned Physicist from United States, Dr.
Raphael Tsu, delivered the keynote address
in the inaugural session. His topic was
"Slow Oscillation and Random Fluctuation
in Quantum Dots:- Can we overcome"?
In the two days conference Physicist from
Sweden Dr. Qamar ul Wahab, United States,
Dr Mohammed Ali Hasan and Dr. Yaseen Akhtar
Raja and Pakistan, Dr. Noor Muhammad Butt,
Prof. Aslam Baig, Prof. A. S Bhatti, Prof.
Dr. Asghar Hashmi and Dr. Arshad Mehmood
will present their keynote addresses.
