The Chancellor, Islamia University, Bahawalpur and the Governor Punjab, Ch. Muhammad Sarwer has announced to award the Honorary Ph.D degree to the famous broadcaster of BBC, Raza Ali Abidi over his remarkable services in the field of literature, broadcasting and journalism. This honorary Ph.D degree to Raza Ali Abidi is being awarded on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar. This was announced here today at a function held here at the Islamia University, Bahawalpur in the honour of BBC Broadcaster, Raza Ali Abidi which was largely attended by the people from different walks of life including Justice (Retd.) Malik Farrukh Mehmood, Malik Habibullah Bhutta, Principal, QMC, Bahawalpur, Dr. Prof. Haroon Khurshid Pasha, ex President, BCCI, Bahawalpur, Sh. Abbas Raza, eminent lawyer, Mukhtar Ahmed Farani, Dr. Javed iqbal, Farooq Ahmed Khan, Masood Sabir, faculty members and students. Prof. Dr. Aslam Adeeb, Prof. Dr. Najeeb Jamal, Prof. Dr. Shahid Rizvi, Ali Moeen Bullay addressed on the occasion and paid glowing tributes to Raza Ali Abidi over his remarkable services in broadcasting, literature and journalism and said that Raza Ali Abidi had done remarkable contribution for the promotion of Urdu language as a broadcaster and his 16 books for children besides other books were the true reflection of high caliber writer as well as he earned fame as a columnist too through his impressive columns in different sections of press and journals. Ali Raza Abidi in his address on the occasion thanked the Governor, Punjab/Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Ch. Muhammad Sarwer and the Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Prof.Dr.Muhammad Mukhtar over awarding the honorary Ph.D degree and appointing Adjunct professor. He said that Urdu was the best and easy way of communication and equally popular all over the world which is being spoken and understood in every corner of the world so we had to try to write and speak it in a simple way for better communication, understanding and to make it more popular. The Vice-Chancellor, IUB/GSCWU, Bahawalpur, Prof.Dr.Muhammad Mukhtar in his address highlighted the achievements, progress and ongoing development programmes for the promotion of socio-economic, cultural literary and academic conditions in the area and appreciated the performance of eminent broadcaster Raza Ali Abidi for promoting Urdu language and national image through his profession. The function was jointly arranged by the IUB, QMC, Bahawalpur, BCCI, Central Library, Bahawalpur, Wasaib Organization.
