The Directorate was established in 1976 to provide opportunities and facilities in the Fields of Physical Education and Sports. A stream of players has been trained from this directorate who has spread throughout the country and are playing their crucial role at the National level enhancing the glory of the nation.

The Directorate of Sports provides a wide range of physical activities and arranges recreational events for the students, as physical education is the integral part of general education.

To achieve these objectives Sports directorate organizes different types of competitions at different levels both for male and female students.

ACHIEVEMENTS
IUB has the honor to win general trophy in the inter Collegiate Tournaments since last 15 years consecutively in men and women events. This year the IUB secure overall third position in Intervarsity Championship, first time in history of IUB sports. Detail of interversity position:
Men
1st Position in Rovering & Tracking, 2nd in Football, Rowing & Wrestling, 3rd in Hiking, Kabaddi & Tennis, 4th in Chess & Handball
Women
2nd position in Table Tennis, 3rd in Hiking, 4th in Cricket & Volleyball.

FUTURE PLANNING
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has a mega project of sports complex at Baghdad-ul-Jaded campus, where all the sports facilities of international level would be available.
