A meeting was held in reference to Regional Plan 9 Punjab Information Technology Board at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zulfiqar Ali Maan and other members participated in the meeting. On this occasion, Registrar the Islamia University of Muhammad Shaji ur Rehman, Treasurer Abdul Sattar Zahoori, Controller of Examinations Syeda Zuriat ul Zahra, Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director IT Aurangzeb, Secretary Chamber of Commerce and Industry Syed Abir Haider and Director Press Media and Public Relations Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid were also present in the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa appreciated Regional Plan 9 Bahawalpur's active role in economic development, especially the initiatives to equip the youth with information technology skills and employ them. The Deputy Commissioner said that projects like Regional Plan 9 are promoting entrepreneurship and innovation and earning valuable foreign exchange for the country. In this regard, the mutual cooperation of public and private institutions is necessary for a balanced and lasting economic stability. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar expressed his views and said that cooperation between industry and academia is very important for social and economic development. He said that Regional Plan 9 is playing the role of a bridge between the university and the industry in this regard. He appreciated the three-year performance of Regional Plan 9. President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Maan said that the Chamber of Commerce is also providing technical assistance and market access to youth start-ups and entrepreneurship. On this occasion, Shoaib Manzoor, in-charge of Regional Plan 9, told the briefing that Regional Plan 9 is working very actively and 50 startups have been completed in 5 major projects. They have created 400 employment opportunities and generated an income of Rs 23 million. Currently, work is going on 6 major projects. Later, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Zaheer Anwar Jappa visited Regional Plan 9 located in Baghdad ul-Jadeed Campus and discussed their business plans with the students participating in the start-ups there. On this occasion, he also distributed certificates of appreciation to the entrepreneurs who performed outstandingly.
