Cheque distribution ceremony and the ORIC Steering Committee meeting at Islamia University of Bahawalpur

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a meeting of the ORIC Steering Committee along with a Cheque Distribution Ceremony for journal editors, patent filers, and Principal Investigators of expos. The cheques were distributed from income generated by ORIC through its own initiatives and external engagements, rather than from the university’s regular financial resources, marking a significant achievement for the office. The event represents a remarkable institutional milestone. In 2023, ORIC had no dedicated bank account; however, by 2025 a fully functional ORIC bank account was established, enabling the first-ever financial distribution in the history of the University through ORIC. During the ceremony, Professor Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC, presented the copyrighted business model “Valorize,” which is based on a knowledge-based economy model aimed at transforming academic research into economic value. The model is jointly owned by Prof. Muhammad Atif and Dr. Shafia and has the potential to generate an estimated financial impact of PKR 7.5 million annually. The model has already started generating income, demonstrating its practical potential to support research commercialization and innovation activities at the University. Members of the ORIC Steering Committee attended the ceremony along with co-chair Mohsin Zulfiqar. Among the distinguished participants were Prof. Dr. Amjad, Chairman Affiliation Committee and Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Abdul Sattar Zahoori Treasurer, Dr. Ali Azam, President Academic Staff Association. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, appreciated the contributions of journal editors, researchers, and the ORIC team for their dedication to promoting research excellence. He also commended ORIC for successfully organizing the cheque distribution ceremony and for its continued efforts to strengthen the Research, Innovation and Commercialization culture at the University. Several distinguished faculty members received cheques in recognition of their contributions as journal editors, including Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, and Prof. Dr. Areeba. In the categories of patents, prototypes, and expos, cheques were awarded to Prof. Dr. Maqsoof, Prof. Dr. Naeem, Dr. Azhar Hussain, and Dr. Faisal Shahzad for their valuable contributions to research and innovation. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Sajid, Manager ORIC, and Farid Zamir, Assistant Director IT (ORIC), who played an important role in facilitating and organizing the event. The ceremony reflects the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s continued commitment to fostering a vibrant ecosystem of research excellence, innovation, and commercialization, further strengthening the university’s role in national academic and technological advancement.

آفس آف ریسرچ انوویشن اینڈ کمرشلائزیشن (اورک) اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے جرنل ایڈیٹرز پیٹنٹ فائلرز اور ایکسپوز کے پرنسپل انویسٹی گیٹرز کے لیے چیک تقسیم کرنے کی تقریب کے ساتھ اورک اسٹیئرنگ کمیٹی کے اجلاس کا اہتمام کیا۔ چیک یونیورسٹی کے باقاعدہ مالی وسائل کی بجائے اورک کے اپنے اقدامات اور بیرونی مصروفیات کے ذریعے حاصل ہونے والی آمدنی سے تقسیم کیے گئے جو دفتر کے لیے ایک اہم کامیابی ہے۔ یہ تقریب ایک قابل ذکر ادارہ جاتی سنگ میل کی نمائندگی کرتی ہے۔ 2023 میں اورک کے پاس کوئی وقف شدہ بینک اکاؤنٹ نہیں تھا۔ تاہم 2025 تک ایک مکمل طور پر فعال اورک بینک اکاؤنٹ قائم کیا گیا جس سے اورک کے ذریعے یونیورسٹی کی تاریخ میں پہلی بار مالیاتی تقسیم کو قابل بنایا گیا تھا۔ تقریب کے دوران اورک کے ڈائریکٹر پروفیسر محمد عاطف نے کاپی رائٹ شدہ بزنس ماڈل "Valorize" پیش کیا جو کہ علم پر مبنی معیشت کے ماڈل پر مبنی ہے جس کا مقصد تعلیمی تحقیق کو معاشی قدر میں تبدیل کرنا ہے۔ یہ ماڈل مشترکہ طور پر پروفیسر محمد عاطف اور ڈاکٹر شفیعہ کی ملکیت ہے اور اس میں سالانہ 7.5 ملین روپے کا تخمینہ مالی اثر پیدا کرنے کی صلاحیت ہے۔ اس ماڈل نے پہلے ہی آمدنی پیدا کرنا شروع کر دی ہے یونیورسٹی میں تحقیقی کمرشلائزیشن اور اختراعی سرگرمیوں میں مدد کرنے کی اپنی عملی صلاحیت کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے تقریب میں شریک چیئرمین محسن ذوالفقار کے ہمراہ اورک اسٹیئرنگ کمیٹی کے اراکین نے شرکت کی۔ معزز شرکاء میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد امجد چیئرمین ایفیلیشن کمیٹی اور ڈین فیکلٹی آف انجینئرنگ ڈاکٹر عبدالستار ظہوری خزانہ دار ڈاکٹر علی اعظم صدر اکیڈمک سٹاف ایسوسی ایشن شامل تھے۔ اس موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے جرنل کے ایڈیٹرز محققین اور اورک ٹیم کی تحقیقی مہارت کو فروغ دینے کے لیے ان کے تعاون کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے چیک تقسیم کی تقریب کو کامیابی سے منعقد کرنے اور یونیورسٹی میں ریسرچ انوویشن اور کمرشلائزیشن کلچر کو مضبوط بنانے کے لیے مسلسل کوششوں کے لیےاورک ٹیم کو سراہا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شفیق الرحمان اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان سمیت کئی معزز فیکلٹی ممبران نے جرنل ایڈیٹرز کے طور پر ان کی خدمات کے اعتراف میں چیکس وصول کیے۔ پیٹنٹس، پروٹو ٹائپس اور ایکسپوز کی کیٹیگریز میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مقصود احمد، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نعیم، ڈاکٹر اظہر حسین اور ڈاکٹر فیصل شہزاد کو تحقیق اور اختراعات میں گراں قدر خدمات انجام دینے پر چیک سے نوازا گیا۔ تقریب میں ڈاکٹر ساجد منیجر اورک اور فرید ضمیر اسسٹنٹ ڈائریکٹرآئی ٹی اورک نے بھی شرکت کی۔ یہ تقریب اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے تحقیقی عمدگی اختراعات اور کمرشلائزیشن کے ایک متحرک ماحولیاتی نظام کو فروغ دینے کے مسلسل عزم کی عکاسی کرتی ہے جس سے قومی تعلیمی اور تکنیکی ترقی میں یونیورسٹی کے کردار کو مزید تقویت ملتی ہے۔
