IUB Hosts Launch of Dr. Farooq Ahmed’s Springer Nature Book on Environment and Public Health

A book launching ceremony was jointly organized by the Departments of Anthropology and Psychology, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, to mark the publication of the book Environment and Public Health، Insights towards Theory, Evidences and Sustainable Solutions, authored by Dr. Farooq Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Anthropology, and published by Springer Nature.  The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, graced the occasion as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the book. In his address, he congratulated Dr. Farooq Ahmed on this significant academic achievement and remarked that publication with Springer Nature reflects the scholarly merit of the work and contributes positively to the national and international academic standing of the university. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary scholarship in responding to global challenges. In her inaugural address, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti, highlighted the importance of inter-disciplinary work and the role of SDG Collaboration Center in facilitating such work in a manner which adds substantially to achieving SDGs. She appreciated the very interdisciplinary nature of this book. The event highlighted the growing need for interdisciplinary research to address contemporary challenges related to environment and public health. While addressing the audience, Dr. Farooq Ahmed elaborated on the role of Anthropology in understanding the interconnected relationships between environment, culture, and public health. He shared insights into the development of the book, explaining how it integrates theoretical perspectives, empirical evidence, and sustainable solutions, focusing on complex linkages among environment, public health, and social equity. Professor Dr. Muhammad Saleem Chairman Department of Applied Psychology, delivered a talk titled “The Link between Climate Change and Psychology”, emphasizing the psychological impact of environmental and climatic changes on individuals and communities. The ceremony was attended by several distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha Director Advanced Studies and Research Bboard, Prof. Dr. Samar Fahd, Dr. Adnan, Chairman, Department of Media Studies, and Dr. Awais Gillani from the Department of Media Studies. Waseem Siddiqui, Personal Staff Officer to the Vice Chancellor, was also present.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے شعبہ بشریات اور نفسیات کے زیر اہتمام ڈاکٹر فاروق احمد، چیئرمین شعبہ بشریات کی تصنیف ماحولیات اور صحت عامہ، نظریہ، شواہد اور پائیدار حل کی طرف بصیرت کی رونمائی کی تقریب کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے بطور مہمان خصوصی شرکت کی اور کتاب کا باقاعدہ افتتاح کیا۔ اپنے خطاب میں انہوں نے ڈاکٹر فاروق احمد کو اس اہم تعلیمی کامیابی پر مبارکباد پیش کی اور کہا کہ اسپرنگر نیچر کے ساتھ اشاعت اس کام کی علمی قابلیت کی عکاسی کرتی ہے اور یونیورسٹی کے قومی اور بین الاقوامی علمی مقام میں مثبت کردار ادا کرتی ہے۔ انہوں نے عالمی چیلنجوں کا جواب دینے میں بین الضابطہ اسکالرشپ کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ ڈین، فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے بین الضابطہ کام کی اہمیت اور ایس ڈی جی کولیبریشن سینٹر کے کردار پر روشنی ڈالی تاکہ اس طرح کے کام کو اس انداز میں آسان بنایا جائے جو SDGs کے حصول میں خاطر خواہ اضافہ کرتا ہے۔ حاضرین سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے، ڈاکٹر فاروق احمد نے ماحولیات، ثقافت اور صحت عامہ کے درمیان باہم مربوط تعلقات کو سمجھنے میں بشریات کے کردار پر تفصیل سے روشنی ڈالی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ کتاب ماحول، صحت عامہ اور سماجی مساوات کے درمیان پیچیدہ روابط پر توجہ مرکوز کرتے ہوئے، نظریاتی تناظر، تجرباتی ثبوت، اور پائیدار حل کو کیسے مربوط کرتی ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد سلیم چئیرمین ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف اپلائیڈ سائیکالوجی نے کلائمیٹ چینج اور سائیکالوجی کے درمیان تعلق کے عنوان سے ایک مذاکرہ دیا، جس میں افراد اور کمیونٹیز پر ماحولیاتی اور موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے نفسیاتی اثرات پر زور دیا گیا۔ تقریب میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر آصف نوید رانجھا ڈائریکٹر ایڈوانس سٹڈیز اینڈ ریسرچ بورڈ، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ثمر فہد، ڈاکٹر عدنان، چیئرمین شعبہ میڈیا سٹڈیز، ڈاکٹر اویس گیلانی، فیکلٹی ممبران  اور وائس چانسلر کے پرسنل اسٹاف آفیسر وسیم صدیقی نے شرکت کی۔
