UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2024

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has secured the 331st position in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2024. With its outstanding performance in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2024, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has secured the 331st position out of 1477 universities around the world. This achievement is a testament to the sustainable development of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, which can create a sustainable future for future generations. The rise of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur from 14th to 10th position nationally among 84 Pakistani universities is a clear indication of its commitment to environmental responsibility. QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025
 

The QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025, announced recently, have recognized The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) as a leading institution in sustainability, with an overall ranking of 1181-1200 globally, 395 in Asia, 72 in Southern Asia, and an impressive 14th position in Pakistan. This achievement is a testament to IUB's dedication to sustainability and its alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The QS Sustainability Rankings assess universities based on three major categories: Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance. IUB’s performance in these areas has been commendable, with a global score of 38.5. Notably, the university earned a 1001+ ranking in each of these three segments, showcasing its comprehensive approach to sustainability.

Within Pakistan, IUB has emerged as a leader in various sustainability metrics, showcasing its commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and good governance. Notably, IUB ranked 10th in Environmental Education, 8th in Environmental Research, 14th in Environmental Sustainability, and also secured notable positions in Employability and Opportunities (12th), Equality (11th), Health and Well-being (6th), Impact of Education (5th), Knowledge Exchange (12th), and Good Governance (12th).

Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Ranking (ISR) 2025
 

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been ranked among the top 201-250 universities in the world in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has consolidated its position among universities in Pakistan, ranking eighth. The Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, launched in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows, evaluate universities based on 11 key metrics across three pillars: inputs, process, and outputs. IUB's impressive scores in these pillars demonstrate its strength in interdisciplinary science research:

  • Overall Score: 42.6-45.4

  • Inputs: 15.5 (reflecting the university's investment in research and academic excellence)

  • Process: 25.0 (demonstrating effective research collaboration and knowledge sharing)

QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur proudly announces its remarkable achievement in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025, securing a prestigious position within the 401-410 range in Asia, and ranked at 107 in South Asia. This significant leap from last year's ranking of 451-500 underscores the university's unwavering commitment to excellence in higher education and research.

With notable scores in various metrics, the university achieved 66.1 in the International Research Network indicator, 54.1 in Citations per Paper, 19.4 in Employer Reputation, 19.4 in Academic Reputation, and 9 in Papers per Faculty. These results reflect the university's dedication to producing impactful research and fostering a collaborative academic environment.

IUB has achieved a significant milestone in the prestigious THE World University Rankings (WUR) 2025. IUB is pleased to announce its enhanced global ranking, progressing from the 1001-1200 bracket to the esteemed 801-1000 tier. Nationally, IUB secured an impressive 10th position among 47 participating Pakistani universities.


IUB's remarkable performance has been boosted by substantial enhancements in three key areas;

1. Research Quality: Notable advancements in citation impact, research strength, research excellence, and research influence.

2. International Outlook: Increased global diversity among staff, students, and research collaborations.

3. Teaching: Enhanced learning environment.

In the 2024 edition of THE Impact Rankings, which evaluated 2152 universities from 125 countries/regions, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan secured a commendable position between 1001-1500 overall, whereas ranked 201-300 for SDG 1 (No Poverty), ranked 301-400 for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and ranked 401-600 for SDGs 4/6/7/8/10/11/12/13/14/15.

THE's methodology integrates scores across multiple SDGs to reflect overall performance and impact while emphasizing the interconnectedness of all SDGs, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan particularly excelled in SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 1 (No Poverty), and, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has made significant progress in the 2024 QS World University Rankings for Asia. In the latest ranking, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been ranked 125th in Asia. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is ranked 2nd in Social Sciences, 5th in Engineering, 5th in Business, 6th in and Economics, 5th in Clinical and Health, 10th in Computer Science, 10th in Life Sciences and 17th in Physical Sciences in Pakistan in terms of subject ranking.
188 Universities from Pakistan participated in THE rankings and only 39 Universities have been ranked and the rest of the universities were not included in the rankings just got reporter status. IUB ranked at 1001-1200 in the World and got 24th position in Pakistan.

Jamia Islamia has been included in the ranking of 501 to 600 in the world by showing significant performance in business and economics and social sciences. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has advanced in the ranking of 601 to 800 in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Clinical and Health Sciences. The Islamia University Bahawalpur's Computer Sciences, Business, Economics and Social Sciences have featured prominently in the Times Higher Education ranking for the first time.
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has recently been recognized among top 17 universities of Pakistan, & top 1100 universities in the world, by Time Higher Education world university ranking, for the first time in its history.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been actively engaged in global competitions for the past four years, consistently achieving commendable positions among its counterparts. After gaining commendable positions in prestigious rankings such as the Times Higher Education and QS World University Rankings, the university has notably gained recognition in the UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2023.

IUB ranked in the 406th position out of 1183 universities worldwide, securing the 14th spot among 68 Pakistani universities.

In a noteworthy development for the year 2023, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) demonstrated remarkable progress, marking an impressive ascent of 10 positions nationally and a substantial leap of 178 positions globally compared to the previous year. This commendable improvement elevated IUB from the 24th to the 14th position nationally, securing the 2nd position in South Punjab.

Globally, the university surged from the 584th to the 406th position, highlighting its dedication to excellence on international levels.

This reflects the commitment of the universities towards improving their performance, especially in four key areas including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook, regarded as vital for the quality and standard of higher education.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been included in the top 500 universities of the world on the basis of its performance in achieving the goals of sustainable development in the recent rankings of Times Higher Education. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has secured the fifth position among 63 universities across Pakistan. According to the details, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is in top 500 universities of the world, as per Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, 10 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). IUB is ranked as 5th position, among 63 universities of Pakistan ranking by Times, in 2022. In 63 Pakistani Universities, IUB is on 2nd position for SDG Sustainable Cities and Communities, 3rd Position for SDG Zero Hunger and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, 4th position for SDGs Clean water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Reduced Inequalities, Life on Land, and 5th position for SDG Responsible Consumption and Production.

In the SCImago Institutions Ranking (SIR) 2022, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, is included in top 500 universities among 4364 universities of the world, ranked by the Scimago Institutional Ranking, Spain.. Additionally, University is ranked at position 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th among 65 Pakistani universities in subject areas Philosophy, Library and Information Science, Soil Science, Veterinary, Animal Science and Zoology, respectively. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is ranked 7th in Pakistan and 242 in world, for “Societal Rank” and Ranked 16th in Pakistan, and 406 in world, for “Research Rank”.

Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021

Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2021 has declared the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as 1001+ best in the world universities. THE World University Ranking Agency uses 13 performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (30%), Research (30%), Citations (30%), International outlook (7.5%), and Industry Income (2.5%). Seventeen universities from Pakistan participated in this category.

The brand IUB is continuously shining not only nationally but also internationally, under the dynamic leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has participated in Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, 2021, for the first time in its history. According to the Times Higher Education Subject ranking, most of the subjects of the university ranked between 600 and 1000. This is a tremendous jump in the quality of teaching and research, of the university. The important domain where university has shown significant progress includes Clinical & Health, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. 

Times Higher Education Impact (SDGS) Ranking 2021

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has performed exceptional in its first appearance in Times Higher Education, UK’s Impact Ranking, which is the top third edition of global ranking measuring institutions’ social and economic impact. Thirty-six universities of Pakistan have participated in Impact Ranking, which assess the institutions against Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of United Nations. 36 Pakistani Universities participated in Impact Ranking 2021

• IUB is at 1st position, in Pakistani Universities in three SDGs, including Zero Hunger, Sustainable Cities and Communities & Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
• 3rd position in “No Poverty”
• 5th position in “Affordable and Clean Energy”
• Overall, at 18th Position among 36 universities of Pakistan.
• 101 position in the world, in SDG “zero hunger”

UI Green Metric World University Ranking 2020

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has continuously been contending for various global competitions, and so regularly achieving excellent standings among its partners, for last two years. After participating in Times Higher Education, World University ranking, the university has participated in UI Green Metric world university rankings for the very first time, and got 637th position, in 2020 rankings. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur ranked on number 25 among 53 Pakistani universities. In the ranking for year 2020, almost one thousand universities from 84 countries participated.  The Islamia University has shown excellent performance and scored significantly in some areas, including Infrastructure, Transportation, Education & Research and Energy & Climate Change.

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) Online Education Readiness Dashboard Ranking 2020

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur had been scored 100% in the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Online Education Readiness Dashboard. The Higher Education Commission issued ranking of universities in terms of their performance in online classes in 2020. The universities had been ranked for university readiness, course readiness, faculty readiness, technology readiness, library readiness, student readiness, evaluation readiness and laboratory readiness.

Nature Index Ranking 2019

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur had been ranked 3rd in Pakistan in 2019, in annual research ranking of world-renowned Nature Index.

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) Ranking 2016

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur had been ranked at 11th position in HEC ranking in 2016 among general rankings of universities of Pakistan. First time in the history of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, IUB Participated in QS World University rankings. Results for the same is awaited.
