07 Chinese agricultural experts from leading Chinese institutions visited IUB.

An International Project Meeting with theme “Study on Vegetation Restoration and Carbon Sequestration Potential of Abandoned Land in Mountainous Areas” being organized by Agri Community College, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment and International Center for Climate Change Food Security and Sustainability (ICCFS), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan. In this meeting 07 Chinese Delegates from Key Laboratory of Land Surface Pattern and Simulation, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and Center for Ecological Civilization Research, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CECR, CRAES), Beijing, China, participated with lot of funding opportunities, collaboration and cooperation initiatives in the field of climate change, food security, land-use land cover, farming lands, ecosystems restoration, pollution control measures and lot of other initiatives were discussed during the meetings. As there were leading diplomates/researchers/professors from CAS, China and CAES, China so they were very much interested in collaboration, cooperation and joint-ventures initiates from ICCFS-IUB-Pakistan and visiting IUB. Prof. Dr Abdul Rauf, Pro-Vice Chancellor, IUB presided this event, warm-welcome the Chinese delegates and praised to spare the time to visit IUB and signed letter of agreement (LoA) between ICCFS/CCCSC-IUB and IGSNRR-CAS, China. Furthermore, Prof Dr Asif Naveed Ranjha, Patron CCSC (Consortium on Climate Change, Sustainability & Conservation, IUB); Prof Dr Muhammad Nafees, Chairman, Department of Horticultural Sciences; Dr. Muhammad Hayder (National Research Center of Inter Cropping, IUB) and other scientists, students and faculty members participate in this event. At the end, Prof. Dr Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Director, ICCFS, IUB appreciate all the participants including Chinese delegates/diplomates of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences for their fruitful visit and choosing IUB-Pakistan for offering scholarships, fellowships, projects, joint-ventures and lot of other academic and research offers and initiatives to IUB students, researchers. Finally, the Chinese delegates have great interaction with students of Diploma in Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, IUB.
