A panel discussion was organized at IUB in connection with the Independence Day 2026 celebrations.

In connection with Pakistan's Independence Day, the Department of Political Science, School of State Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in collaboration with the District Administration, Bahawalpur, organized a panel discussion titled The Struggle for the Right of National Unity and the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Turkey Trilateral Defense Agreement.  The distinguished panel comprised Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar, Chairman, Department of Political Science, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Chairman, Department of International Relations, Government College University Faisalabad and Dr. Syed Adnan Athar Bukhari, Assistant Professor, Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The session commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, who highlighted the significance of academic discourse on national issues and the role of universities in promoting informed citizenship, national consciousness, and social cohesion. The program was moderated by Dr. Shakil Kathia, Chairman Department of Political Science, who facilitated an engaging exchange of views among the panelists. The panelists discussed the significance of national unity, strategic vision, collective responsibility, and Pakistan’s evolving regional security environment. They also deliberated on the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement and its implications for Pakistan and the wider region, particularly with reference to emerging security challenges, regional cooperation, collective defence, and prospects for regional stability. The program was attended by faculty members and students of the Department of Political Science as well as faculty and students from other departments of the University. Their participation contributed to an interactive academic environment and provided students with an opportunity to engage with experts on contemporary national and regional issues. The event concluded with remarks by Dr. Sarfraz Batool, Director, Usman Buzdar School of State Sciences, who appreciated the scholarly contributions of the panelists and emphasized the importance of sustained academic dialogue on issues of national and regional significance.

جشن آزادی پاکستان کے سلسلے میں شعبہ سیاسیات سکول آف سٹیٹ سائنسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے ضلعی انتظامیہ بہاولپور کے اشتراک سے معرکہ حق قومی اتحاد اور پاکستان سعودی عرب و ترکیہ سہہ فریقی دفاعی معاہدہ کے عنوان سے پینل ڈسکشن کا انعقاد کیا۔ پینل میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مقرب اکبر چیئرمین شعبہ سیاسیات بہاؤالدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان ڈاکٹر غلام مصطفیٰ چیئرمین شعبہ بین الاقوامی تعلقات گورنمنٹ کالج یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد اور ڈاکٹر سید عدنان اطہر بخاری اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر شعبہ دفاع اور اسٹریٹجک اسٹڈیز قائد اعظم یونیورسٹی اسلام آباد شامل تھے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے قومی مسائل پر گفتگو کی اہمیت اور باخبر شہریت قومی شعور اور سماجی ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دینے میں یونیورسٹیوں کے کردار پر روشنی ڈالی۔ پروگرام کی نظامت ڈاکٹر شکیل کاٹھیا چیئرمین شعبہ سیاسیات نے کی۔ پینلسٹس نے قومی اتحاد کی اہمیت سٹریٹجک وژن اجتماعی ذمہ داری اور پاکستان کے بدلتے ہوئے علاقائی سلامتی کے ماحول پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ انہوں نے مکہ مشترکہ دفاعی معاہدے اور پاکستان اور وسیع تر خطے پر اس کے اثرات خاص طور پر ابھرتے ہوئے سکیورٹی چیلنجز علاقائی تعاون اجتماعی دفاع اور علاقائی استحکام کے امکانات کے حوالے سے بھی تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ پروگرام میں شعبہ سیاسیات کے فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباءوطالبات کے ساتھ ساتھ یونیورسٹی کے دیگر شعبہ جات کے فیکلٹی اور طلباء نے بھی شرکت کی۔ تقریب کے اختتام پر ڈاکٹر سرفراز بتول ڈائریکٹر، عثمان سکول آف سٹیٹ سائنسز نے پینلسٹس کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے قومی اور علاقائی اہمیت کے مسائل پر مسلسل علمی مکالمے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔
