A special seminar was organized by the Committee for Prevention and Control of Narcotics of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Abbasia Campus. On this occasion, Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed was the chief guest and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran presided over the seminar. Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed said that drugs are a global problem. Protecting and keeping the young generation safe from it is the joint responsibility of the relevant institutions as well as parents and society. In this regard, the role of educational institutions is very important, which continuously spread awareness about the prevention of drugs and its harmful effects. Rai Babar Saeed said that contact with the youth is very important. Keeping them engaged in positive activities and getting them aware of their problems can help in preventing this problem. In order to attract the youth towards an active and positive lifestyle, mutual cooperation and cooperation between institutions including the police, parents and educational institutions is necessary. The gap of lack of contact with the young generation must be bridged. In this way, anti-drug institutions can be successful when they have a good impression in the society. He appreciated the organization of a 2-month awareness campaign by a special committee established at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and assured its continuation and coordination with the activities of the police and other institutions. He said that a special committee comprising the university’s teachers and police officers should also be formed to make joint efforts in this regard. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran thanked the Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur for his special participation in the ceremony and said that he appreciated the spirit of cooperation with the university. He said that only those countries and societies are successful where there is zero tolerance for drugs. We need to keep our young generation, especially students, in constant touch to keep them away from the scourge of drugs. Focal Person Prof. Dr. Fayyazuddin presented the details of the seminar and awareness campaign in all faculties and departments last year to spread awareness about anti-drugs and its harmful effects. He said that this awareness campaign was organized in collaboration with the University Medical Unit, Hostel Administration, Public Relations Office, Transport and other institutions. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Saeed Akhtar Chaudhry from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College gave a special lecture on drugs and their effects on society.

بہاولپور (پ ر) اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی کمیٹی برائے انسداد و تدارک منشیات کے زیر اہتمام منشیات کے استعمال اور غیر قانونی اسمگلنگ کے خلاف عالمی دن کے موقع پر عباسیہ کیمپس میں خصوصی سیمینار منعقد ہوا۔ اس موقع پر ریجنل پولیس آفیسربہاولپور رائے بابر سعید مہمان خصوصی تھے اور صدارت وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے کی۔ ریجنل پولیس آفیسر بہاولپور رائے بابر سعید نے کہا کہ منشیات ایک عالمی مسئلہ ہے۔ نوجوان نسل کو اس سے بچانا اور محفوظ رکھنا متعلقہ اداروں کے ساتھ ساتھ والدین اور معاشرے کی مشترکہ ذمہ داری ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں تعلیمی اداروں کا کردار بہت اہم ہے جو تسلسل سے منشیات کی روک تھام اور مضر اثرات سے بچاؤ کے لیے آگاہی پھیلاتے ہے۔ رائے بابر سعید نے کہا کہ نوجوانوں سے رابطہ بہت ضروری ہے۔ انہیں مثبت سرگرمیوں میں مصروف رکھ کر ان کے مسائل سے آگاہی حاصل کرکے اس مسئلے کے روک تھام میں خاصی مدد مل سکتی ہے۔ نوجوانوں کو فعال اور مثبت طرز زندگی کی جانب راغب کرنے کے لیے اداروں بمشول پولیس والدین اور تعلیمی اداروں کا باہمی ربط اور تعاون ضروری ہے۔ نوجوان نسل سے عدم رابطے کی خلیج کو پر کرنا ہوگا۔ اس طرح انسداد منشیات کے ادارے اس وقت کامیاب ہو سکتے ہیں جب وہ معاشرے میں اچھے تاثر کے حامل ہوں۔ انہوں نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں قائم کی گئی خصوصی کمیٹی کی جانب سے 2 ماہ کی آگاہی مہم کے انعقاد کو سراہتے ہوئے اسے جاری رکھنے اور پولیس اور دیگر اداروں کی سرگرمیوں سے مربوط کرنے پر ضرور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جامعہ کے اساتذہ اور پولیس افسران پر مشتمل ایک خصوصی کمیٹی بھی تشکیل دی جائے جو اس سلسلے میں مشترکہ کوششیں کریں۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے تقریب میں خصوصی شرکت پر ریجنل پولیس آفیسر بہاول پور کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور کہا کہ یونیورسٹی سے تعاون کے جذبے کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وہی ملک اور معاشرے کامیاب ہیں جہاں منشیات سے متعلق زیرو ٹالرینس ہے۔ ہمیں اپنے نوجوان نسل خصوصا طلباو طالبات کو منشیات کی لعنت سے دور رکھنے کے لیے مسلسل رابطے میں رکھنا ضروری ہے۔ فوکل پرسن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر فیاض الدین نے گزشتہ سال انسداد منشیات اور اس کے مضر اثرات سے متعلق آگاہی پھیلانے کے لیے تمام فییکلٹیز اور شعبہ جات میں سیمینار اور آگاہی مہم کی تفصیل پیش کی۔ انہوں نیکہا کہ یہ  آگاہی مہم یونیورسٹی میڈیکل یونٹ، ہاسٹل انتظامیہ، شعبہ تعلقات عامہ، ٹرانسپورٹ اور دیگر اداروں کے تعاون سے منعقد ہوئی۔ اس موقع پر قائد اعظم میڈیکل کالج سے ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سعید اختر چوہدری نے منشیات اوراس کے معاشرے پر اثرات سے متعلق خصوصی لیکچر دیا۔
