A two-day training course on the topic of Islam and International Humanitarian Law was successfully organized at IUB

A two-day training course on the topic of Islam and International Humanitarian Law was successfully organized by the Department of Islamic Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with the International Committee of Red Cross Pakistan, in which MPhil and PhD scholars of the Department of Islamic Studies participated. The main objective of this training course was to familiarize the students with various legal aspects and important points of International Humanitarian Law. The inaugural session on the first day of the course was presided over by Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq-ur-Rehman, who in his sermon explained the Islamic principle of respect for humanity and emphasized its necessity and importance in the present era. While the Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies, Professor Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, delivering the introductory remarks, highlighted the importance of this training course and its academic and practical aspects. The keynote speakers of this training course included Dr. Ziaullah Rahmani, Regional Advisor for Islamic Law, ICRC Pakistan and renowned legal expert, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Law, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad and Professor Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The experts delivered detailed and insightful lectures and presentations on the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, its historical and contemporary context, Islamic etiquette of war, and important points related to the protection of humanity during the two days. During the course, the participants were also informed about the introduction of the IRC, its global role, and various aspects of the harmony between Islamic law and international humanitarian law. Case studies were organized for practical training during the program, in which students were given tasks in groups to solve problems based on different situations. The students drew research results with great interest and enthusiasm and tried to understand the discussions related to the topic through question and answer. The closing session of the course was specially attended by Vice Chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran. He reviewed the program and appreciated this academic effort of the Department of Islamic Studies, calling it an important and timely initiative in line with the requirements of the present era. He also thanked the visiting speakers and organizers of ICRC Pakistan who chose Islamia University of Bahawalpur to organize the best training session on this important topic. At the end, the participants described this training course as very useful and academically effective and expressed the hope that such programs will continue to be organized in the future so that research, understanding and practical skills can be further developed among the students.

شعبہ علوم اسلامیہ، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیر اہتمام انٹر نیشنل کمیٹی آف ریڈ کراس پاکستان کے اشتراک سے اسلام اور بین الاقوامی قانون انسانیت کے موضوع پر دو روزہ تربیتی کورس کامیابی کے ساتھ انعقاد پذیر ہوا جس میں شعبہ علوم اسلامیہ کے ایم فل و پی ایچ ڈی سکالرز نے شرکت کی۔ اس تربیتی کورس کا بنیادی مقصد طلبہ وطالبات کو بین الاقوامی قانون انسانیت کے مختلف قانونی پہلوؤں اور اہم نکات سے روشناس کرانا تھا۔ کورس کے پہلے روز افتتاحی نشست کی صدارت ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عریبک اسٹڈیز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن نے کی جنہوں نے اپنے خطبہ میں تکریم انسانیت کے اسلامی اصول کی وضاحت کے ساتھ ساتھ موجودہ دور میں اس کی ضرورت واہمیت پر زور دیا۔ جبکہ چیئرمین شعبہ علوم اسلامیہ، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالغفار نے تمہیدی کلمات پیش کرتے ہوئے اس تربیتی کورس کی اہمیت اور اس کے علمی و عملی پہلوؤں پر روشنی ڈالی۔ اس تربیتی کورس کے کلیدی مقررین میں ڈاکٹر ضیاء اللہ رحمانی علاقائی مشیر برائے قانون اسلامی، آئی سی آر سی پاکستان اور معروف ماہر قانون، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد مشتاق احمد چیئرمین، شعبہ قانون، شفا تعمیر ملت یونیورسٹی اسلام آباد اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبد الغفارچئیر مین شعبہ علوم اسلامیہ ، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور شامل تھے۔ تمام ماہرین نے دو روز کے دوران بین الاقوامی قانونِ انسانیت کے بنیادی اصولوں، اس کے تاریخی و معاصر تناظر ، اسلامی آداب القتال ، اور انسانیت کے تحفظ سے متعلق اہم نکات پر مفصل اور بصیرت افروز لیکچرز اور پریزنٹیشنزپیش کیں۔ کورس کے دوران شرکاء کوآئی ار سی کے تعارف، اس کے عالمی کردار، اور اسلامی قانون و بین الاقوامی قانونِ انسانیت کے مابین ہم آہنگی کے مختلف پہلوؤں سے بھی آگاہ کیا گیا۔ پروگرام کے دوران عملی تربیت کے لیے کیس اسٹڈیز کا اہتمام کیا گیا، جن میں طلبہ و طالبات کو مختلف حالات پر مبنی مسائل حل کرنے کے لیے گروپس کی صورت میں ٹاسک دیے گئے۔ طلبہ نے نہایت دلچسپی اور انہماک کے ساتھ تحقیقی نتائج اخذ کیے اور سوال و جواب کے ذریعے موضوع سے متعلق مباحث کو سمجھنے کی کوشش کی۔کورس کی اختتامی نشست میں وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پر وفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے خصوصی شرکت کی۔ انہوں نے پروگرام کا جائزہ لیا اور شعبہ علوم اسلامیہ کی اس علمی کاوش کو سراہتے ہوئے اسے عصر حاضر کے تقاضوں سے ہم آہنگ ایک اہم اور بروقت اقدام قرار دیا۔ نیز انہوں نے آئی سی آرسی پاکستان کے تشریف لانے والے مقررین و منتظمین کا شکر یہ بھی ادا کیا جنہوں نے اس اہم موضوع پر بہترین تربیتی نشست کے انعقاد کے لیے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کا انتخاب کیا۔اختتام پر شرکاء نے اس تربیتی کورس کو نہایت مفید اور علمی اعتبار سے مؤثر قرار دیتے ہوئے اس امید کا اظہار کیا کہ مستقبل میں بھی اس نوعیت کے پروگرامز کا انعقاد جاری رکھا جائے گا تاکہ طلبہ میں تحقیق، فہم اور عملی مہارتوں کو مزید فروغ دیا جا سکے۔
