In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, IUB has attained notable milestone recognition.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has achieved a significant milestone in its pursuit of global academic excellence, securing prestigious positions in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. This accomplishment becomes even more remarkable in a highly competitive global landscape, where 6,273 institutions from 166 countries were analyzed, and only 1,908 institutions were ultimately ranked, underscoring the exclusivity and rigor of the evaluation process.

Out of 29 disciplines evaluated for IUB, two key academic areas— Pharmacy & Pharmacology and Agriculture & Forestry—have successfully met the stringent international benchmarks required for global ranking.

The Pharmacy & Pharmacology discipline has been placed in the 301–350 brackets worldwide, demonstrating exceptional research performance with Citations per Paper score of 81.9 and an H-index of 70.7. The discipline also achieved an Academic Reputation score of 45.6 and an Employer Reputation score of 47.4, reflecting its growing recognition among global academia and industry.

Similarly, the Agriculture & Forestry discipline has secured a position in the 401–475 brackets globally, reflecting a strong research footprint with impressive Citations per Paper score of 87.8. It recorded an Academic Reputation score of 24.5 and a notably strong Employer Reputation score of 48.1, indicating increasing employer confidence in IUB graduates.

Both disciplines have also demonstrated notable strength in key indicators such as the International Research Network (IRN), further highlighting the university’s expanding global engagement and collaborative impact.

The Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran remarked:

“This is a historic moment for the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The global recognition of our Pharmacy and Agriculture programs reflects the dedication of our faculty, researchers, and students. We remain committed to delivering world-class education and addressing local challenges through globally aligned standards. Our focus on high-impact research and outcome based education will further elevate our standing across disciplines.”

The VC also congratulated Prof. Dr. Tanvir Hussain Turabi , Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment and Prof. Dr. Qaiser Jabeen Dean Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences and faculty of both disciplines for achieving this significant milestone.

Prof. Dr. M. Asadullah Madni, the Director QEC stated:

“The QS Subject Rankings 2026 validate our robust internal quality assurance mechanisms and data-driven strategies. Our strong performance in ‘Citations per Paper’ highlights the global visibility of our research. Moving forward, we will further strengthen ‘Academic Reputation’ and ‘Employer Reputation’ to enhance IUB's international standing.”

The University further reaffirms its commitment to achieving excellence across all disciplines and remains focused on strengthening every academic area through strategic priorities, innovation, and continuous improvement.
