IUB agriculturists attended a high-level meeting held at the Agriculture Research and Facilitation Center, Cholistan.

A high-level meeting was held at the Agriculture Research and Facilitation Center located in Chapo Cholistan Bahawalpur. The Chinese delegation was led by Yuan Jianmin. Director General of Green Pakistan Initiative Major General (R) Shahid Nazir was also present. On the direction of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was represented by a team of experts including Director of National Cotton Breeding Institute Dr. Usman Aziz, Assistant Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics Dr. Humayun Raza and Lecturer Dr. Iftikhar. During the meeting, Director General Shahid Nazir highlighted the potential of Chinese technology in solving important problems of Pakistan’s agriculture sector. On behalf of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Dr. Usman Aziz presented the vision and details of cooperation with the research activities of the National Cotton Breeding Institute of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran. He also outlined possible joint research projects between Pakistan and China to improve the country’s cotton industry, which was enthusiastically appreciated by the delegation. At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited the cotton experimental trials at Chapo. Dr. Humayun and Dr. Iftikhar gave a detailed briefing on the performance of varieties developed by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the harsh climatic conditions of southern Punjab. The delegation appreciated the work of the National Cotton Breeding Institute in developing good cotton varieties in the region and expressed keen interest in promoting the development of the institution.

بہاولپور (پ ر) چاپو چولستان بہاولپور میں واقع ایگریکلچر ریسرچ اینڈ فیسلیٹیشن سینٹر میں ایک اعلیٰ سطحی اجلاس کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں چینی وفد کی قیادت یوآن جیان من نے کی۔ گرین پاکستان انیشیٹو کے ڈائریکٹر جنرل میجر جنرل (ر) شاہد نذیر بھی موجود  تھے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران وائس چانسلر کی ہدایت پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی نمائندگی ماہرین کی ایک ٹیم نے کی جس میں نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر عثمان عزیز پلانٹ بریڈنگ اینڈ جینیٹکس کے اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ہمایوں رضا اور لیکچرر ڈاکٹر افتخار شامل تھے۔ میٹنگ کے دوران ڈائریکٹر جنرل شاہد نذیر نے پاکستان کے زرعی شعبے کے اہم مسائل کے حل میں چینی ٹیکنالوجی کی ممکنہ صلاحیتوں پر روشنی ڈالی۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی جانب سے ڈاکٹر عثمان عزیز نے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران کے نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کی تحقیقی سرگرمیوں کے حوالے سے وژن اور تعاون کی تفصیلات پیش کیں۔ انہوں نے ملک کی کپاس کی صنعت کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے پاکستان اور چین کے درمیان ممکنہ مشترکہ تحقیقی منصوبوں کا خاکہ بھی پیش کیا جسے وفد نے پرجوش انداز میں سراہا۔ میٹنگ کے اختتام پر وفد نے چاپو میں کپاس کے تجرباتی ٹرائلز کا دورہ کیا۔ ڈاکٹر ہمایوں اور ڈاکٹر افتخار نے جنوبی پنجاب کے سخت ماحولیاتی حالات میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی تیار کردہ اقسام کی کارکردگی سے متعلق تفصیلی بریفنگ دی۔ وفد نے خطے میں کپاس کی اچھی اقسام تیار کرنے میں نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے کام کی تعریف کی اور ادارے کی ترقی کو فروغ دینے میں گہری دلچسپی کا اظہار کیا۔
