IUB and District Administration Bahawalpur conducted heat safety awareness workshop at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus

In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a heat safety awareness workshop was organized at Baghdad ul-Jadeed Campus in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the District Administration to create public awareness on climate change and strengthen the interaction between academia, government and private institutions. The special guest, Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia, said that due to climate change, the region is facing severe weather conditions and other environmental challenges. As a result of these factors, the super flood that occurred last year affected the province greatly. Bahawalpur, being a desert region, is prone to drought. In this regard, in the light of the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, the interaction of various institutions and academia is encouraging. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, being a major university in the region, plays an important role in research and awareness-raising to address environmental challenges. He thanked Vice Chancellor Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran, faculty members and researchers for their special cooperation in organizing the workshop. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza said that a special campaign is underway to create awareness among the public about heat waves and effective government measures are being taken. The cooperation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and organizing the workshop with stakeholders in this regard is a welcome step. Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, said that researchers of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are playing a key role in research and awareness in natural and applied sciences and social sciences. He thanked the district and divisional administration for their cooperation in organizing the workshop. International experts Professor Dr. Ratan Lal from Ohio State University, USA and Chinese Professor Dr. Shuqiong Kong College of Resources and Environment Yangtze University, Wuhan Campus addressed the workshop online. Head of the Department of Public Health Dr. Naeem Asim gave a detailed speech on public health and heat waves, Dr. Asma Majeed on heat waves in the context of climate change, and Professor Dr. Samar Fahad on the human psychological effects of heat waves, while Dr. Muhammad Abdullah performed the duties of the director. The conference was coordinated by the focal person Professor Dr. Makshoof Ahmed and assistants and teachers Dr. Abu Bakar Dar, Dr. Ali and Hafiz Marjan Haider. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences Professor Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Registrar Muhammad Shajiur-ur-Rehman, ADCG Dr. Ayesha Khan, Assistant Commissioner Hamza Ehtesham, Director Advanced Studies and Research Professor Dr. Naveed Aslam Mulghani, Director Quality Enhancement Cell Professor Dr. Asadullah Madani, Director Public Relations Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, Director Institute of Forest Sciences Professor Dr. Muhammad Rafe, Chairman Department of Agronomy Dr. Aun Samar, Estate Care Principal Officer Dr. Aamir Manzoor, Director Business Incubation Center Dr. Amjad Saeed, faculty and students participated in large numbers.
