Panel Discussion on Financial Inclusion and Launch of Scholarships at Islamia University of Bahawalpur on International Women’s Day 2025
On the directives of the Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, the Centre for Financial Literacy at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, hosted a panel discussion on financial inclusion as part of the International Women's Day celebrations. Experts from finance, academia, and social activism addressed financial inclusion challenges, particularly gender disparities in financial access. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, chaired the session as Chief Guest. Distinguished panelists included Abdullah Khan Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan, Rass Masood Senior Deputy Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Ayesha Javeria AVP MCB, Qudsia Khokhar, Branch Manager, First Women Bank, Naveed Ul Hassan Regional Manager Meezan Bank, Ayesha Fahad Vice President Women Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Mariam Abbas Soharwardi Associate Professor Department of Economics, Sadia Mahwish Economist and Amber Tanseer Patron-in-Chief Pak Sar Zameen. The session was moderated by Dr. Sarfaraz Batool Director of the Women Development Centre. Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan Director of the Centre for Financial Literacy welcomed participants and introduced the topic, underscoring the significance of financial literacy and inclusion. Representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan outlined the Financial Inclusion Policy, emphasizing initiatives to enhance financial accessibility, particularly for women and small businesses. Economists Dr. Mariam Abbas Soharwardi and Sadia Mahwish highlighted the macroeconomic benefits of financial inclusion, linking it to economic stability and poverty reduction. Ayesha Fahad from the Women Chamber of Commerce discussed challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, such as limited credit access and societal biases. Social activist Amber Tanseer addressed cultural barriers that restrict women's financial participation and their apprehensions about engaging with financial institutions. Islamic and conventional banking representatives showcased efforts to promote financial inclusion. Naveed Ul Hassan from Meezan Bank, Dr. Ayesha Javeria from MCB, and Qudsia Khokhar from First Women Bank introduced female-centric financial products and initiatives designed to enhance banking accessibility for women. A key highlight of the event was the launch of scholarships for female students by Pak Sar Zameen, aimed at empowering women through education and financial literacy. Panelists commended the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s initiatives and recommended integrating financial literacy as a non-credit course in undergraduate programs. They also suggested establishing internships and community service programs focused on financial education. Humera Chaudhary Deputy Treasurer, Fatima Muzahir Deputy Registrar Public Affairs, Officials from State and Commercial Banks, faculty members, and students attended the session. The discussion was broadcast live, extending its reach beyond the university, marking a significant step in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s commitment to financial literacy and inclusion.

وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی ہدایت پر سنٹر فار فنانشل لٹریسی نے خواتین کے عالمی دن کی تقریبات کے سلسلے میں مالی شمولیت پر ایک پینل ڈسکشن کا انعقاد کیا۔ فنانس، اکیڈمی، اور سماجی سرگرمی کے ماہرین نے مالی شمولیت کے چیلنجوں، خاص طور پر مالیاتی رسائی میں صنفی تفاوت پر توجہ دی۔ شرکاء میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز، عبداللہ خان چیف منیجر اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان، راس مسعود سینئر ڈپٹی چیف منیجر اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان، ڈاکٹر عائشہ جویریہ اے وی پی ایم سی بی بینک، قدسیہ کھوکھر برانچ منیجر فرسٹ ویمن بینک، نوید الحسن ریجنل منیجر میزان بینک، عائشہ فہد نائب صدر ویمن چیمبر، ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف اکنامکس، سعدیہ مہوش اکانومسٹ اور امبر تنصیر سرپرست اعلیٰ پاک سر زمین شامل تھے۔ سیشن کی نظامت ڈاکٹر سرفراز بتول ڈائریکٹر وومن ڈویلپمنٹ سنٹر نے کی۔ ڈائریکٹر سینٹر فار فنانشل لٹریسی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان نے مالیاتی خواندگی اور شمولیت کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی اوراسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان کے نمائندوں نے مالیاتی شمولیت کی پالیسی کا خاکہ پیش کیا، خاص طور پر خواتین اور چھوٹے کاروباروں کے لیے مالیاتی رسائی کو بڑھانے کے لیے اقدامات پر زور دیا۔ ماہرین اقتصادیات ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی اور سعدیہ مہوش نے مالیاتی شمولیت کے میکرو اکنامک فوائد پر روشنی ڈالی اور اسے معاشی استحکام اور غربت میں کمی سے جوڑا۔ عائشہ فہد ویمن چیمبر آف کامرس نے خواتین انٹرپرینیورز کو درپیش چیلنجز، جیسے محدود کریڈٹ رسائی اور سماجی تعصبات پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ سماجی کارکن عنبر تنصیر نے سماجی رکاوٹوں کے بارے میں گفتگو کی جو خواتین کی مالیاتی شراکت اور مالیاتی اداروں کے ساتھ منسلک ہونے کے بارے میں ان کے خدشات کو محدود کرتی ہیں۔ اسلامی اور روایتی بینکاری کے نمائندوں نے مالی شمولیت کو فروغ دینے کی کوششوں کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ نوید الحسن، ڈاکٹر عائشہ جویریہ اور قدسیہ کھوکھر نے خواتین پر مبنی مالیاتی مصنوعات اور خواتین کے لیے بینکنگ کی رسائی کو بڑھانے کے لیے بنائے گئے اقدامات متعارف کرائے ہیں۔ تقریب کی ایک اہم بات پاک سر زمین کی جانب سے طالبات کے لیے وظائف کا اجراء تھا، جس کا مقصد تعلیم اور مالی خواندگی کے ذریعے خواتین کو بااختیار بنانا تھا۔ شرکاء نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور کے اقدامات کو سراہا اور انڈرگریجویٹ پروگراموں میں مالیاتی خواندگی کو ایک نان کریڈٹ کورس کے طور پر ضم کرنے کی سفارش کی۔ انہوں نے مالیاتی تعلیم پر توجہ مرکوز کرتے ہوئے انٹرن شپ اور کمیونٹی سروس پروگرام قائم کرنے کی بھی تجویز دی۔ حمیرا چوہدری ڈپٹی خزانہ دار، فاطمہ مظاہر ڈپٹی رجسٹرار پبلک افیئرز، اسٹیٹ اینڈ کمرشل بینکوں کے افسران، فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء نے سیشن میں شرکت کی۔
