Bahawalpur:  Governor Punjab and Chancellor Engr. Baligh-ur-Rahman has said that climate change is affecting the planet. Actions to maintain ecological balance in the region are a top priority. In this regard, experts from all over the world, including the universities will be invited to Governor Punjab House in the month of September for consultative session. The Governor of Punjab expressed these views in an online conference on environment protection and social responsibilities at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur today. He congratulated the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for highlighting this important issue and taking various steps for it. Establishment of Consortium on Climate Change by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, installation of solar energy project in Jamia Islamia is a very important step in promoting environment friendly energy. He appreciated Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and senior faculty members for taking various measures regarding environment. On this occasion, Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said that emission of carbon gases on a global scale is the cause of environmental changes. In this regard, the United States, China and India are leading in the emission of carbon gases. At the end of this century, the world population will reach 20 billion. Since the industrial revolution that started in 1850, carbon emissions due to human activities are at the highest level that we are facing in the form of global warming and other climate changes. He emphasized that international standards for environmental protection should be strictly implemented by all countries and adopt technologies that lead to reduction in pollution. Secretary Higher Education Department Najaf Iqbal said that cooperation between industry, academia and experts is very important for environmental protection. Addressing environmental threats is very important for social and community development and experts in universities can offer the best solutions for this. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur appreciated the participation of Governor Punjab Engr. Baligh-ur-Rahman, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Secretary Higher Education Department Najaf Iqbal, Vice Chancellors and other experts in an online conference regarding environment. He said that environment-friendly the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is among the core values and the university is working on this sector on a large scale in this regard. An Inter-University Consortium was formed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum so that all the departments in the University could join forces to conserve the environment. Subsequently, the Inter-University Consortium on Climate Change was formed, which includes more than 50 universities and institutions. This one-of-a-kind consortium was welcomed by all dignitaries including the Governor of Punjab. He said that such courses have been introduced at the BS level which creates awareness and consciousness regarding the environment. The Department of Environmental Sciences at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is offering a 4-year BS degree in Environment. At present, the university is getting 3 MW of solar energy from solar energy park, which is sufficient for the campus needs in winter. Green Campus Project was started in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur 3 years ago to establish an environment friendly campus where renewable energy is provided, food wastage is minimized and waste management is also in place. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is installing a water waste treatment plant in Bahawalpur later this year. The Sustainable Development Center has been established under the supervision of Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti so that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur can effectively play its role in achieving the goals of long-term development. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Institute of World Development Economics Dr. Nadeem ul Haque, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Chairman Department of Social Work, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah, Director Biodiversity Park, national and international experts are addressing. Among them Prof. Dr. Ji Li, Environmental Communication, Wuhan University, China, Prof. K. Kuperan Viswanathan UUM, Malaysia, Dr. Samina Khalil, Member Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Environmental Pollution Control Policy, Ammara Durrani, UNDP Representative, Farzana Altaf Shah, Director General Pakistan Environment Protection Agency, Ashiq Ahmad Khan, Ammar Jafari Chairman Digital Pakistan, Dr. Hayu Prabowo, Director Research Center, Dr. Nirosha Hewa wellalage, University of Waikato New Zealand and Zhu Yuxuan, Vice Director Ecological Culture Development Center, China addressing online. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, renewed the pledge on behalf of the faculty and students that the activities at the academia level regarding the environment will be increased so that the university experts can face this most important challenge. The focal person of the conference, Chairman of the Department of Economics, Dr. Abid Rasheed Gul, thanked the Vice Chancellor for his special support and patronage in organizing the conference. He thanked the participation of Governor Punjab and Chancellor, Chairman Higher Education Commission Punjab, Secretary Higher Education Department and other experts.

گورنر پنجاب و چانسلر انجینئر بلیغ الرحمن نے کہا ہے کہ ماحولیاتی تبدیلیاں کرہ ارض پر شدت سے اثر انداز ہو رہی ہیں۔ خطے میں ماحولیاتی توازن قائم رکھنے کے لیے اقدامات اولین ترجیح ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں ستمبر کے مہینے میں پنجاب کی جامعات سمیت دنیا بھر کے ماہرین کو گورنر پنجاب ہاؤس مدعو کیا جائے گا۔ گورنر پنجاب نے ان خیالات کا اظہار آج اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں تحفظ ماحولیات اور سماجی ذمہ داریوں کے آن لائن کانفرنس میں خطاب میں کیا۔ انہوں نے اس اہم مسئلے کو اجاگر کرنے اور اس کے لیے مختلف اقدامات کرنے پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کو مبارکباد دی۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی جانب سے کلائمیٹ چینج کے حوالے سے کنسورشیم کا قیام، جامعہ اسلامیہ میں شمسی توانائی پروجیکٹ کی تنصیب، ماحول دوست توانائی کے فروغ میں انتہائی اہم اقدام ہے۔ انہوں نے وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب اور سینئر فیکلٹی ممبر ز کو ماحولیات کے حوالے سے مختلف اقدامات اٹھانے پر سراہا۔ اس موقع پر پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے چیئرمین پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شاہد منیر نے کہا کہ عالمی سطح پر بڑے پیمانے پر کاربن گیسوں کا اخراج ماحولیاتی تبدیلیوں  کا باعث ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں امریکہ، چین اور بھارت کاربن گیسوں کے اخراج میں سب سے آگے ہیں۔ اس صدی کے اختتام پر دنیا کی آبادی 20 ارب تک پہنچ جائے گی۔ 1850سے شروع ہونے والے صنعتی انقلاب کے بعد سے آج تک انسانی سرگرمیوں کے باعث کاربن گیسوں کا اخراج بلند ترین سطح پر ہے جو گلوبل وارمنگ اور دیگر موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کی شکل میں ہمارے سامنے موجود ہے۔ انہوں نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ ماحولیاتی تحفظ کے لیے بین الاقوامی معیارات پر تمام ممالک سختی سے عملدرآمد کریں اور ایسی ٹیکنالوجیزاپنائیں جو آلودگی میں کمی کا باعث بنیں۔ سیکرٹری ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ نجف اقبال نے کہا کہ ماحولیاتی تحفظ کے لیے انڈسٹری، اکیڈمیا اور ماہرین کا اشتراک بہت ضروری ہے۔ سماجی اور معاشرتی ترقی کے لیے ماحولیاتی خطرات سے نمٹنا بہت ضروری اور جامعات میں موجود ماہرین اس کے لیے بہترین حل پیش کر سکتے ہیں۔ انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے ماحولیات کے حوالے سے آن لائن کانفرنس میں گورنرپنجاب انجینئر بلیغ الرحمن، چیئرمین پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شاہد منیر، سیکرٹری ہائر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ نجف اقبال، وائس چانسلرز اور دیگر ماہرین کی شرکت کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ماحول دوست اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور بنیادی اقدار میں شامل ہیں اور یونیورسٹی اس حوالے سے بڑے پیمانے پر اس سیکٹر پر کام کر رہی ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم کی سربراہی میں انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم قائم ہوا تاکہ یونیورسٹی میں موجود تمام شعبہ جات مل کر ماحولیات کے تحفظ کے لیے اپنی توانائیاں یکجا کریں۔ اس کے بعد انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم برائے موسمیاتی تبدیلی قائم ہوا جس میں 50سے زائد جامعات اور ادارے شامل ہیں۔ اپنی نوعیت کے اس منفرد کنسورشیم کو گورنر پنجاب سمیت تمام اعلیٰ شخصیات نے پذیرائی کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بی ایس لیول پر ایسے کورسز متعارف کرئے گئے ہیں جو ماحول کے حوالے سے آگاہی اور شعور بیدار کرتے ہیں۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں قائم شعبہ انوائرمنٹل سائنسز ماحولیات میں 4سالہ بی ایس ڈگری فراہم کررہا ہے۔ اس وقت یونیورسٹی میں شمسی توانائی سے 3میگا واٹ سولر انرجی حاصل کی جا رہی ہے جو موسم سرما میں کیمپس ضروریات کے لیے کافی ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں 3سال پہلے گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ شروع کیا گیا تاکہ ماحول دوست کیمپس کا قیام عمل میں آئے جہاں پر قابل تجدید توانائی فراہم ہو، خوراک کا ضیاع کم سے کم ہو اور ویسٹ مینجمنٹ کا بھی انتظام موجود ہو۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں اس سال کے آخر میں واٹر ویسٹ ٹریٹمنٹ پلانٹ کی تنصیب کر رہی ہے۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی کی نگرانی میں سسٹین ایبل ڈویلپمنٹ سنٹر قائم کیا گیا ہے تاکہ دیر پا ترقی کے احداف کے حصول میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور موثر طور پر اپنا کردار ادا کر سکے۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ورلڈ ڈویلپمنٹ اکنامکس ڈاکٹر ندیم الحق، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیو لوجیکل سائنسز، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر آصف نوید رانجھا،چیئرمین شعبہ سوشل ورک، ڈاکٹر محمد عبداللہ، ڈائریکٹر بائیو ڈائیورسٹی پارک، ملکی اور بین الاقوامی ماہرین نے خطاب کیا۔ ان میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جی لی، انوائرمنٹل کمیونیکیشن، ووہان یونیورسٹی چائینہ، پروفیسر کے کوپیرن وشواناتھن، ملائیشیا، ڈاکٹر ثمینہ خلیل، ممبر اکنامک ایڈوائزری کونسل، وزیر اعظم پاکستان آن انوائر منٹل پولیوشن کنٹرول پالیسی، عمارہ درانی، نمائندہ UNDP، فرزانہ الطاف شاہ، ڈائریکٹر جنرل پاکستان انوائرمنٹ پروٹیکشن ایجنسی، عاشق احمد خان، عمار جعفری چیئرمین ڈیجیٹل پاکستان، ڈاکٹر ہایو پربووو ڈائریکٹر ریسرچ سنٹر، ڈاکٹر نیروشا ہیواویلالج یونیورسٹی آف ویکاٹو نیوزی لینڈ اورزوو یوکسوان وائس ڈائریکٹر ایکولوجیکل کلچر ڈویلپمنٹ سنٹر چائنہ نے خطاب کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے فیکلٹی اور طلباء وطالبات کی جانب سے اس عہد کی تجدید کی کہ ماحولیات کے حوالے سے اکیڈمیا لیول پر سرگرمیوں کوبڑھایا جائے گا تاکہ یونیورسٹی ماہرین اس اہم ترین چیلنج کا مقابلہ کر سکیں۔ کانفرنس کے فوکل پرسن چیئرمین شعبہ معاشیات ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل نے کانفرنس کے انعقاد میں خصوصی تعاون اور سرپرستی پر وائس چانسلر کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ انہوں نے گورنر پنجاب و چانسلر کی شرکت، چیئرمین ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن پنجاب، سیکرٹری ہا ئر ایجوکیشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ اور دیگر ماہرین کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔
