IUB Students from Department of Physiology visited BVH and RBC BWP

In the last few years, blood disorders such as Thallasemia are on the rise. Such patients always need a continued supply of blood. Donors are quite less in the country and it gets difficult to timely arrange blood for such patients. In this context, the department of Physiology visited the Regional Blood Centre, Bahawal Victoria Hospital along with its students of BS Physiology. The students were showed state-of-the-art set up of the centre. The different sections of the centre were visited and processing of blood samples being carried out at this facility was briefed by Syed Fayyaz, Manager Blood Mobilization of the centre. Syed Fayyaz and Dr. Umer Farooq endorsed upon escalated awareness to the masses regarding thalassemia and other blood disorders. It was further discussed how the two departments can work in collaboration for increased blood donation services.

گزشتہ چندسالوں میں تھیلسیمیا جیسے خون کے امراض میں اضافہ ہورہا ہے۔ایسے مریضوں کو ہمیشہ خون کی مسلسل فراہمی کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔ خون کا عطیہ دینے والے بہت کم ہیں اور ایسے مریضوں کے لئے خون کا بروقت بندوبست کرنا مشکل ہوجاتا ہے۔ اس تناظر میں شعبہ فزیالوجی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپورنے نئے علاقائی بلڈ سنٹر، بہاول وکٹوریہ ہسپتال کا دورہ کیا۔طلباء نے مرکز کے مختلف حصوں کا دورہ کیا اور منیجر بلڈ موبلائزیشن سید فیاض نے بریفنگ دی۔ سید فیاض اور ڈاکٹر عمر فاروق نے تھیلیسیمیا اور خون کے دیگر عوارض کے بارے میں عوام میں آگاہی پرزوردیا۔
