Meezan Bank Executive Awarded PhD by The Islamia University of Bahawalpur
Bahawalpur, June 2026: The Institute of Business Management and Administrative Sciences (IBMAS), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), proudly announces the successful public defense of the doctoral thesis of Mr. Muhammad Naveed Ul Hassan, Regional Operations Manager, Meezan Bank Limited, who has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management Sciences (Finance).
His doctoral research, titled “The Impact of ESG Performance on Financial Outcomes in the Banking Sector: A Moderated-Mediated Analysis of the GCC Region,” was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Owais Shafique, Department of Islamic Banking, IBMAS. The study contributes to the fields of sustainable finance, Islamic banking, and corporate governance by providing insights into how sustainability-oriented practices can enhance banking performance, strengthen institutional resilience, and support long-term value creation. The findings offer practical relevance for banking practitioners and policymakers while opening new avenues for future research in ESG, Islamic banking, and responsible finance.
Dr. Muhammad Naveed Ul Hassan is a seasoned banker and academic with nearly two decades of professional experience. Alongside his banking career, he has actively contributed to strengthening industry-academia linkages between Meezan Bank Limited and The Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
His efforts have supported several collaborative initiatives, including educational partnerships through Ihsan Trust, Faculty Development Grants, and the establishment of the Meezan Centre for Islamic Finance at IBMAS. These initiatives have enhanced opportunities for student development, faculty engagement, research collaboration, and the promotion of Islamic finance education.
Dr. Owais Shafique, supervisor of the research, congratulated Dr. Naveed on the successful completion of his doctoral studies and appreciated the academic contribution of the research to the emerging field of sustainable banking and finance.
Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences and Director IBMAS, commended Dr. Naveed's commitment to academic excellence while pursuing a demanding professional career and acknowledged his role in strengthening collaboration between Meezan Bank and IBMAS.
