Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences the Islamia University of Bahawalpur participated in the meeting held at Islamic World Academy of Science Karachi. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on promoting science and technology for socio-economic development in the OIC countries. The conference was jointly organized by the Standing Committee of Islamic Cooperation on Scientific and Technical Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi. The challenges faced by the countries were to be discussed and how science and technology can help them to overcome these challenges. The conference also focused on STI-based socio-economic development in OIC countries and urged to come up with policy documents on various topics. This high-level conference will help policy makers to integrate science and technology into their national development agendas for OIC member countries. The conference was inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Several renowned scientists from the OIC country participated in the meeting/conference.

پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم، ڈین فیکلٹی آف کیمیکل اینڈ بائیولوجیکل سائنسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے اسلامک ورلڈ اکیڈمی آف سائنس کراچی میں منعقد ہونے والے اجلاس میں شرکت کی۔ اجلاس کے  دوران او آئی سی ممالک میں سماجی و اقتصادی ترقی کے لیے سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی کو فروغ دینے پر زور دیا گیا۔ اس کانفرنس کا انعقاد اسلامی تعاون کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے سائنسی اور تکنیکی تعاون (OIC-COMSTECH) اور جامعہ کراچی میں بین الاقوامی مرکز برائے کیمیکل اینڈ بائیولوجیکل سائنسز (ICCBS) نے مشترکہ طور پر کیا۔ کانفرنس کا سب سے بڑا فوکس او آئی سی کے ممالک کو درپیش چیلنجوں پر تبادلہ خیال کرنا تھا اور ان چیلنجوں سے نمٹنے میں سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی کس طرح ان کی مدد کر سکتی ہے۔ کانفرنس نے او آئی سی ممالک میں STI پر مبنی سماجی و اقتصادی ترقی پر بھی توجہ مرکوز کی اور مختلف موضوعات پر پالیسی دستاویزات کے ساتھ آنے پر زور دیا۔ یہ اعلیٰ سطحی کانفرنس پالیسی سازوں کو او آئی سی کے رکن ممالک کے لیے اپنے قومی ترقی کے ایجنڈوں میں سائنس اور ٹیکنالوجی کو باہم مربوط کرنے میں مدد دے گی۔ کانفرنس کا افتتاح وزیر اعلیٰ سندھ مراد علی شاہ نے کیا۔ کانفرنس میں او آئی سی ممالک کے کئی نامور سائنسدانوں نے شرکت کی۔
