Successfully grown blackberry plants and harvested healthy fruits at IUB farm

Black Berries are no more away from the approach of a common man: Honor of a faculty member of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Dr. Ghulam Sarwar, a faculty member from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur became successful to grow Black Berry plants and harvested healthy fruits on his farm at Bahawalpur for the first time in history of the area. He is multiplying the plants at his nursery and very hopeful for the successful farming at commercial scale in the near future. The Worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Naveed Akhtar was very excited while meeting the faculty member, appreciated him very much and encouraged to continue and enhance his project to commercial scale and to serve the nation in real sense. He further added that real services of universities are to link the academia with industry and our university is achieving this target very successfully.

Blackberries are a type of delicious and nutritious fruit that grows on thorny bushes belonging to the Rubus genus in the Rosaceae family. They are characterized by their dark purple-black color when ripe and their sweet-tart flavor. They are closely related to raspberries and share a similar appearance, but blackberries are larger and have a darker color when ripe. Blackberries are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them a nutritious addition to your diet. They can be eaten fresh, used in cooking and baking, or made into jams, jellies, and desserts.
