The 62nd meeting of the Academic Council of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) was held at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran. Director Academic Professor Dr. Javed Iqbal presented the implementation report on the decisions taken in the previous meeting. The Academic Council reviewed various academic, curricular, administrative and policy matters concerning the University and its affiliated colleges.The meeting approved the four-year LL.B. programme and its curriculum under the semester system for the University and affiliated colleges. The nomination of members of the newly constituted committees of affiliated colleges was also approved. Matters presented by Advanced Studies and Research, recommendations of the Curriculum Coordination Committee of affiliated colleges regarding various programmes, and teaching and administrative matters presented by the Directorate of Academics were considered. Various academic policy matters relating to re-enrolment, repeat courses and course improvement, grace marks, time-barred cases, admissions and merit, and other student-related matters were also reviewed.
The Academic Council considered proposals relating to new and revised curricula, degree programmes, admission criteria and programme structures from various departments, including International Relations, Anthropology, Information Management, Media and Communication Studies, Applied Psychology, Social Work, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Postgraduate Medical College, Information and Communication Engineering, and Sir Sadiq Institute of Technology.
Similarly, curricular and degree-related proposals from the departments of Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics and Geography were considered. The proposals included revisions to curricula, introduction of new degree programmes, admission criteria and other academic matters. The Council also reviewed proposals relating to modern and emerging fields, particularly Artificial Intelligence and other technology-oriented disciplines.
The meeting also considered proposals concerning the inclusion of Understanding of the Holy Quran and other compulsory courses, Artificial Intelligence-related courses, alignment of curricula with revised HEC policies, Outcome-Based Education requirements, Programme Learning Outcomes and degree programme structures. Proposals for BS, ADP, MS/MPhil and PhD programmes, including revised curricula and the introduction of new programmes in various disciplines, were also placed before the Council.
The Academic Council further reviewed matters relating to the appointment and management of visiting faculty, study leave, selection of teaching assistants, amendments to regulations of affiliated colleges, student academic cases and other administrative matters. The Council reiterated its commitment to enhancing academic quality, aligning curricula with national and international educational requirements, introducing modern and market-oriented degree programmes, and ensuring the provision of quality education and improved academic opportunities for students.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی اکیڈیمک کونسل کا 62واں اجلاس وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران کی زیرصدارت بغدادالجدید کیمپس میں منعقد ہوا۔ اجلاس میں ڈائریکٹر اکیڈیمک پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جواد اقبال نے گزشتہ اجلاس میں کیے گئے فیصلوں پر عملدرآمد کی رپورٹ پیش کی۔ اکیڈیمک کونسل نے یونیورسٹی اور ملحقہ کالجز سے متعلق مختلف تعلیمی، نصابی، انتظامی اور پالیسی امور کا جائزہ لیا۔اجلاس میں یونیورسٹی اور ملحقہ کالجز میں سیمسٹر سسٹم کے تحت چار سالہ ایل ایل بی پروگرام اور اس کے نصاب کی منظوری دی گئی، جبکہ نئی تعینات شدہ ملحقہ کالجز کمیٹیوں کے ارکان کی نامزدگی کی بھی منظوری دی گئی۔ ایڈوانسڈ اسٹڈیز اینڈ ریسرچ کی جانب سے پیش کردہ امور، ملحقہ کالجز کی نصاب کوآرڈینیشن کمیٹی کی مختلف پروگرامز کے نصاب سے متعلق سفارشات اور ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف اکیڈیمک کی جانب سے پیش کردہ تدریسی و انتظامی امور بھی زیر غور آئے۔ طلبہ سے متعلق ری انرولمنٹ، ریپیٹ و کورس امپروومنٹ، گریس مارکس، ٹائم بارڈ کیسز، داخلہ و میرٹ اور دیگر تعلیمی پالیسی امور کا بھی جائزہ لیا گیا۔اکیڈیمک کونسل نے مختلف شعبہ جات کے نئے اور نظرثانی شدہ نصاب، ڈگری پروگرامز، داخلہ معیار اور پروگرام اسٹرکچر سے متعلق تجاویز کا جائزہ لیا۔ ان شعبہ جات میں بین الاقوامی تعلقات، انتھروپالوجی، انفارمیشن مینجمنٹ، میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن اسٹڈیز، اپلائیڈ سائیکالوجی، سوشل ورک، فارمیسی، فارماسوٹیکل کیمسٹری، فارماکولوجی، سر صادق محمد خان پوسٹ میڈیکل کالج، انفارمیشن اینڈ کمیونیکیشن انجینئرنگ اور سر صادق انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ٹیکنالوجی شامل ہیں۔اسی طرح پلانٹ بریڈنگ، سوائل سائنس، آرٹیفیشل انٹیلیجنس، ڈیٹا سائنس، انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی، شماریات، ریاضی، فزکس اور جغرافیہ کے شعبہ جات کی جانب سے پیش کردہ نصاب اور ڈگری پروگرامز میں ترامیم، نئے پروگرامز کے اجراء، داخلہ معیار اور مختلف تعلیمی امور پر غور کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں جدید تقاضوں سے ہم آہنگ پروگرامز، مصنوعی ذہانت اور دیگر ابھرتے ہوئے شعبہ جات سے متعلق نصابی تجاویز کا بھی جائزہ لیا گیا۔
اکیڈیمک کونسل نے مختلف پروگرامز میں فہمِ قرآن سمیت لازمی کورسز کی شمولیت، مصنوعی ذہانت سے متعلق کورسز، HEC کی نظرثانی شدہ پالیسیوں کے مطابق نصاب کی تشکیل، Outcome-Based Education کے تقاضوں، پروگرام لرننگ آؤٹ کمز اور ڈگری پروگرامز کے اسٹرکچر سے متعلق سفارشات پر بھی غور کیا۔ مختلف شعبہ جات میں BS، ADP، MS/MPhil اور PhD پروگرامز کے نصاب اور نئے پروگرامز کے اجراء کی تجاویز بھی ایجنڈے کا حصہ رہیں۔اجلاس میں وزٹنگ فیکلٹی کی تقرری و انتظام، اسٹڈی لیو، ٹیچنگ اسسٹنٹس کے انتخاب، ملحقہ کالجز کے ضوابط میں ترامیم، طلبہ کے تعلیمی کیسز اور دیگر انتظامی امور کا بھی جائزہ لیا گیا۔ اکیڈیمک کونسل نے اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ یونیورسٹی میں تعلیمی معیار کو مزید بہتر بنانے، نصاب کو قومی اور عالمی تعلیمی تقاضوں سے ہم آہنگ کرنے، جدید اور مارکیٹ پر مبنی ڈگری پروگرامز متعارف کرانے اور طلبہ کو معیاری تعلیم کی فراہمی کے لیے مؤثر اقدامات کا سلسلہ جاری رکھا جائے گا۔
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia.
