The Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in collaboration with the Academic Research and Policy Development Foundation Islamabad, organized a high-profile international webinar titled "Interfaith Harmony, Social Economics, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals" at the Audio Video Conference Room, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus. The session was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, who served as the Patron-in-Chief. The keynote speaker for the event was renowned US-based financial strategist and educationist Prof. Dr. Ehab Elshamy, Managing Director of American Financials Group (USA), Chancellor of American International Theism University, and Member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council through online means. The formal proceedings commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Sajila Kausar, Chairperson of the Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony and Event Focal Person. Inaugurating the session, Dr. Kausar formally welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, and scholars, highlighting the vital significance of the webinar in bridging ethical values, interfaith understanding, and contemporary sustainable development frameworks. In his keynote address through online means , Prof. Dr. Ehab Elshamy presented an in-depth analysis of the critical nexus between ethical values, interfaith coexistence, social economics, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing upon more than three decades of international banking and governance experience, he emphasized that achieving sustainable poverty alleviation, quality education, and equitable global economic progress requires shared moral foundations and proactive interfaith collaboration. The keynote presentation was followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, during which faculty members, researchers, and students engaged with the keynote speaker on policy development and sustainable social-economic models. Senior academic leadership in attendance included Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman, Chairman, Department of Quranic Studies; and Dr. Muhammad Khubaib, Associate Professor, Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony. Delivering the concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti commended the organizers for arranging a globally relevant dialogue, stressing the crucial role of the social sciences and interfaith dialogue in addressing complex societal challenges and promoting human welfare. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran expressed sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ehab Elshamy for his intellectual contribution, as well as to ARPDF and the Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony for hosting the event. Following the session, the Vice Chancellor engaged in an informal discussion with participating students, encouraging them to take an active role in international webinars and academic seminars to broaden their intellectual horizons and develop a thorough understanding of contemporary global issues.
