The Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a one-day conference on Role of Public and Private Sector in Agriculture and Food Security with the collaboration of the Pakistan Crop Protection Association the Young Peace and Development Corps and the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Additional Director General Riaz Kulachi, Additional Director Syed Burhan Ali Shah, Pakistan Crop Protection Association Arshad Ghumman and Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, attended while Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, Director, Directorate of Industrial Linkages, who served as principal organizer, also addressed the participants. In their keynote addresses, the speakers highlighted that food security is among the most pressing challenges facing Pakistan and the wider region, driven by a rapidly growing population, climate change, water scarcity, declining soil fertility and rising production costs, and stressed that no single sector can tackle it alone. Additional Director General Riaz Kulachi emphasized responsible and regulated use of pesticides, effective pest surveillance and quality control, so that crop protection supports higher yields while safeguarding human health, the environment and export competitiveness. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran underlined the university's commitment to applied, solution-oriented research and to closer linkages among academia, government departments and industry, calling on researchers to translate their findings into practical benefits for farmers. Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum spoke on the importance of educating and empowering women, who play a vital role in agricultural labor and household food management, and of engaging young researchers and students in agri-based innovation. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi discussed modern agricultural practices, climate-smart farming, sustainable resource management and the faculty's research and outreach activities for the farming community of the region. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan said that structured collaboration between public institutions and private enterprises can drive technology transfer, skill development, value addition and market access, and thanked the sponsors, partner organizations, faculty members, students and guests for their support. The speakers collectively agreed that coordinated policies, investment in research, adoption of modern technologies such as precision agriculture and drone-based monitoring, and strong public-private partnerships are essential for ensuring sustainable agricultural growth and national food security. The conference was attended by a large number of faculty members, researchers, representatives of government departments and the private sector, progressive farmers and students.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ نےپاکستان کراپ پروٹیکشن ایسوسی ایشن، ینگ پیس اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ کور اور وزارتِ منصوبہ بندی، ترقی و خصوصی اقدامات کے تعاون سے’زراعت اور غذائی تحفظ میں سرکاری اور نجی شعبے کے کردار کے موضوع پر ایک روزہ کانفرنس کا انعقاد کیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران، وائس چانسلر گورنمنٹ صادق کالج ویمن یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم، ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر جنرل ریاض کلاچی، ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر سید برہان علی شاہ، پاکستان کراپ پروٹیکشن ایسوسی ایشن کے ارشد گھمن اور فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ کے ڈین پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی موجود تھے۔ ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف انڈسٹریل لنکجز کے ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر محمد آصف خان، جنہوں نے بطور پرنسپل آرگنائزر خدمات انجام دیں، نے بھی شرکاء سے خطاب کیا۔ مقررین نے اپنے کلیدی خطابات میں اس بات پر روشنی ڈالی کہ غذائی تحفظ پاکستان اور پورے خطے کو درپیش اہم ترین چیلنجوں میں سے ایک ہے۔ اس چیلنج کی وجوہات میں تیزی سے بڑھتی ہوئی آبادی، موسمیاتی تبدیلیاں، پانی کی قلت، زمین کی زرخیزی میں کمی اور پیداواری لاگت میں اضافہ شامل ہیں۔ انہوں نے زور دیا کہ کوئی بھی ایک شعبہ تنہا اس مسئلے سے نمٹنے کی صلاحیت نہیں رکھتا۔ ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر جنرل ریاض کلاچی نے کیڑے مار ادویات کے ذمہ دارانہ اور ضابطے کے تحت استعمال، کیڑوں کی مؤثر نگرانی اور کوالٹی کنٹرول پر زور دیا، تاکہ فصلوں کے تحفظ کے ذریعے پیداوار میں اضافہ کیا جا سکے اور ساتھ ہی انسانی صحت، ماحول اور برآمدی مسابقت کا تحفظ بھی یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نےحل پر مبنی تحقیقی کام اور تعلیمی اداروں، سرکاری محکموں اور صنعت کے درمیان قریبی روابط قائم کرنے کے لیے یونیورسٹی کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ انہوں نے محققین پر زور دیا کہ وہ اپنی تحقیق کے نتائج کو کسانوں کے لیے عملی فوائد میں تبدیل کریں۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شازیہ انجم نے خواتین کو تعلیم یافتہ اور بااختیار بنانے کی اہمیت پر بات کی، جو زرعی افرادی قوت اور گھریلو سطح پر غذائی انتظام میں کلیدی کردار ادا کرتی ہیں۔ انہوں نے نوجوان محققین اور طلباء کو زراعت سے متعلقہ جدت طرازی  میں شامل کرنے کی ضرورت پر بھی زور دیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی نے جدید زرعی طریقوں، موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں سے ہم آہنگ کاشتکاری، وسائل کے پائیدار انتظام اور خطے کے کاشتکاروں کے لیے فیکلٹی کی جانب سے کی جانے والی تحقیقی اور توسیعی سرگرمیوں پر گفتگو کی۔ ڈاکٹر محمد آصف خان نے کہا کہ سرکاری اداروں اور نجی کاروباری اداروں کے درمیان منظم تعاون ٹیکنالوجی کی منتقلی، مہارتوں کی ترقی، قدر میں اضافے اور منڈی تک رسائی کو فروغ دے سکتا ہے۔ انہوں نے تعاون فراہم کرنے پر اسپانسرز، شراکت دار تنظیموں، فیکلٹی ممبران، طلباء اور مہمانوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ مقررین نے اس بات پر اتفاق کیا کہ پائیدار زرعی ترقی اور قومی غذائی تحفظ کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے مربوط پالیسیاں، تحقیق میں سرمایہ کاری، جدید ٹیکنالوجیز جیسے کہ ’پریسجن ایگریکلچر‘ یا درست زرعی طریقہ کار اور ڈرون پر مبنی نگرانی کا استعمال، اور مضبوط سرکاری و نجی شراکت داری ناگزیر ہے۔ کانفرنس میں فیکلٹی ممبران، محققین، سرکاری محکموں اور نجی شعبے کے نمائندوں، ترقی پسند کسانوں اور طلباء کی بڑی تعداد نے شرکت کی۔
