The Islamia University of Bahawalpur hosted a World Soil Day 2025 celebration.

The Department of Soil Science, Institute of Soil and Water Resources, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, organized a World Soil Day ceremony. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran was the chief guest on the occasion. A seminar, awareness walk and cake cutting ceremony were also held on the theme of World Soil Day - Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities. Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi and Chairman Department of Soil Science Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmed said that the teachers, scientists, researchers and students of the department are organizing various activities in line with this global importance so that the importance of this sector can be highlighted in terms of global environmental changes, agricultural development and soil fertility. In the seminar, Prof. Dr. Shengsen Wang from Yangzhou University, China, spoke on soil management strategies for urban sustainability. Prof. Dr. Rattan Lal, Ohio State University, USA, highlighted soil’s role in carbon storage, water regulation, and biodiversity. Dr. Hafiz Tanvir Ahmad, Department of Soil Science presented on soil health indicators and their importance for climate-resilient cities. Professor Dr. Muhammad Nafees, Chairman, Department of Horticulture thanked all the guests and appreciated the contribution of the speakers, faculty and students.

شعبہ سوائل سائنسز انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف سوائل اینڈ واٹر ریسورس فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیر اہتمام ورلڈ سوائل ڈے کی تقریب منعقد ہوئی۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران اس موقع پر مہمان خصوصی تھے۔ اس موقع پر مٹی کے عالمی دن کے تھیم صحت مند شہروں کے لیے صحت مند مٹی کے موضوع پر سیمینار، آگاہی واک اور کیک کاٹنے کی تقریب بھی منعقد ہوئی۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوارئمنٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی اور چیئرمین شعبہ سوائل سائنس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مکشوف احمد نے کہا کہ شعبہ کے اساتذہ، سائنسدان، محققین اور طلباوطالبات اس عالمی اہمیت کی مناسبت مختلف سرگرمیاں ترتیب دے رہے ہیں تاکہ عالمی ماحولیاتی تبدیلیوں زراعت کی ترقی اور زمین کی زرخیزی کے حوالے سے اس شعبے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کیا جاسکے۔ سیمینار میں چین کی یانگ زو یونیورسٹی سے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شینگسن وانگ نے شہری استحکام کے لیے مٹی کے انتظام کی حکمت عملیوں پر بات کی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر رتن لال، اوہائیو اسٹیٹ یونیورسٹی آف امریکہ نے کاربن ذخیرہ کرنے، پانی کے ضابطے اور حیاتیاتی تنوع میں مٹی کے کردار پر روشنی ڈالی۔ ڈاکٹر حافظ تنویر احمد، شعبہ سوائل سائنس نے مٹی کی صحت کے اشارے اور موسمیاتی لچکدار شہروں کے لیے ان کی اہمیت کے بارے میں پیش کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس، چیئرمین شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر نے تمام مہمانوں کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور مقررین، فیکلٹی اور طلباء کے تعاون کو سراہا۔
