The method of intercropping of different crops by IUB is becoming popular all over the country

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur in collaboration with Chinese universities introduced intercropping of different crops which can add $10 billion to national economy making the country self-sufficient in edible oil and poultry feed. According to the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, the government has made this project a part of CPEC in view of aligning the research conducted in the university with national aspirations and priorities and in view of its importance in food security and agricultural economy. Through intercropping of maize and soybeans, the country can save about $10 billion in foreign exchange annually on import of edible oil and poultry feed. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur recently organized a special briefing for industrialists and progressive farmers related to the oil industry. They were apprised that intercropping of maize and soybeans was profitable, which could make the country self-sufficient in edible oil and poultry feed. Federal and provincial organization appreciated the project of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for mixed cultivation of maize and soybeans. Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob visited the University Agriculture Farm under the National Research Center of Intercropping the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Director National Research Center of Intercropping Dr. Muhammad Ali Raza, also introduced this important technology across Pakistan which has been lauded by the higher government and agricultural circles.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی جانب سے مختلف فصلوں کی مخلوط کاشت انٹرکراپنگ کا طریقہء کار ملک بھر میں مقبول عام ہو رہا ہے۔ چینی جامعات کے اشتراک سے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے مختلف فصلوں کی مخلوط کاشت کا طریقہء کار متعارف کرایا۔ وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کے وژن کے مطابق جامعہ میں ہونیوالی تحقیق کو قومی امنگوں اور ترجیحات سے ہم آہنگ کرنے اور فوڈ سیکورٹی و زرعی معیشت میں اہمیت کے پیش نظر حکومت نے اس منصوبے کو سی پیک کا حصہ بنا دیا۔ انٹرکراپنگ میں سب سے اہم مکئی اور سویا بین کی مخلوط کاشت ہے۔ مکئی اور سویابین انٹرکراپنگ سے ملک خوردنی تیل کی درآمد اور پولٹری فیڈ کی مد میں تقریبا 10 ارب ڈالر سالانہ کا زرمبادلہ بچا سکتا ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی جانب سے حال ہی میں آئل انڈسٹری سے متعلقہ صنعتکاروں اور ترقی پسند کاشتکاروں کے لیے خصوصی بریفنگ کا اہتمام کیا گیا۔ انہیں ترغیب دی گئی کہ مکئی اور سویابین کی مخلوط کاشت نفع بخش ہے جس سے ملک خوردنی تیل اور پولٹری فیڈ میں خود کفیل ہو سکتا ہے۔ وفاقی اور صوبائی اداروں نے مکئی اور سویا بین کی مخلوط کاشت کے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے منصوبے کو سراہا۔ وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے نیشنل ریسرچ سنٹر آف انٹرکراپنگ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپورکے تحت یونیورسٹی زرعی فارم میں اُگائی گئی مخلوط فصلوں کا دورہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر ڈاکٹر محمد حیدر بن خالد، ڈاکٹر عطا محی الدین، ڈاکٹر ظفر اقبال، ڈاکٹر سجاد حسین، ڈاکٹر ثناء الرحمن نے گندم اورمکئی، گنے اور مکئی، گنے اور گندم، گنے اوررایا، رایا اور گندم، گنے اور برسیم، گندم اور برسیم، گنے اور چنے کی مخلوط کاشت کے تجربات سے آگاہ کیا۔ وائس چانسلر نے ڈائریکٹر نیشنل ریسرچ سنٹر آف انٹرکراپنگ ڈاکٹر محمد علی رضا کی کاوشوں کو سراہا جن کی بدولت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے اس اہم ٹیکنالوجی کو پاکستان بھر میں متعارف کرایا ہے جسے اعلیٰ حکومتی اور زرعی حلقوں نے سراہا ہے۔
