Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran visited the Bahawalpur Museum

April 23, 2026 BAHAWALPUR: Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), visited the Bahawalpur Museum today. During the visit, he presented a commemorative postage stamp of the university to the Director of the Bahawalpur Museum, Muhammad Zubair Rabbani. Upon his arrival, the Vice Chancellor was warmly received by the Director, who presented him with a museum souvenir, a floral bouquet, and a traditional Saraiki Ajrak.

The Director briefed the Vice Chancellor on the museum’s establishment, core objectives, and ongoing development projects. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran remarked, "The Bahawalpur Museum is not merely a building; it is a living encyclopedia of our history, civilization, and culture. The artifacts preserved here bridge the gap between us and our glorious past." He expressed his satisfaction with the museum's role in preserving the state's history and regional heritage, adding that the University and the Museum would collaborate on future research initiatives.

While presenting the Pakistan Post commemorative stamp—issued to mark the centenary of The Islamia University—the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the stamp is not just a piece of paper but a symbol of a century-long journey in education, research, and culture. He noted that displaying the stamp at the museum would allow tourists and visitors to appreciate the university's historical contributions.

Accepting the gift, Muhammad Zubair Rabbani thanked the Vice Chancellor and confirmed that the stamp would be prominently displayed in the relevant gallery. He remarked that the intellectual foundation laid by the Nawab of Bahawalpur a century ago has today flourished into a towering tree of academic excellence under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran.

On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor also toured a book exhibition organized by the museum to observe World Book and Copyright Day. He highly praised the initiative, noting that the museum’s rare collection of books and manuscripts is truly remarkable. He concluded by urging the youth to strengthen their relationship with books and historical institutions.
