Department of Geography

Founded in 1985, the Department of Geography at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur stands as a pioneering department in South Punjab. Over the years, it has thrived, producing alumni who now serve in diverse roles within the armed forces, the Survey of Pakistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the Bureau of Statistics, the Urban Unit, and various educational institutions. The department offers academic/degree programs, including ADP Geography, BS Geography, BS GIS and RS Geography, MPhil, and PhD. Under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Sher Muhammad Malik, the department is committed to advancing through research and innovation, fostering both national and international collaborations. Our highly qualified faculty, with significant research and teaching achievements, design programs that address complex geographical issues such as urban planning, environmental conservation, and resource management. This ensures our graduates are well-prepared to address global challenges and achieve their career goals.

The Department of Geography, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of the relationships between people and their environments through a diverse geography curriculum. By integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS), we aim to equip our students with the tools necessary to visualize, analyze, and interpret spatial data. Our mission is to foster innovation, support sustainable strategies, and provide our graduates with the skills needed for informed decision-making in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.
