Department of Quranic Studies
The Department of Qur’ānic Studies aims to promote the academic study of Qur’ānic Sciences. Although formally it was founded in 2020 when the Department of Islamic Studies was expanded into different departments, its courses remained the core parts of all the degree programs of the Faculty of Islamic Learning.
Muslims believe that the Holy Qur’ān is the last book of Allah which was revealed on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It remained an inexhaustible source of intellectual and spiritual reflection throughout Islamic history, giving rise to ever-proliferating commentaries and interpretations. Therefore, the study of the Qur’ān along with its various sciences is not only considered as a religious duty among Muslims but is also considered as the most important source to understand entire Islamic culture and civilization. Globalization of the world engaged many non-Muslim scholars in the study of Qur’ānic Sciences which also resulted in a vast increase in the scope of the subject as well as generated many employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors in Pakistan and abroad.
