Department of Social Work

The Department of Social Work at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in 2004. The department has remained at the forefront of academic and field based social action projects for socio-economic development of the country. The department has been consistently upgrading its curriculum to make it more responsive to the social challenges of Pakistan. It possesses first rate highly qualified and field grounded faculty. The Department of Social Work is committed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in social welfare fields, while offering opportunities for personal growth and development.
The BS Social Work program is designed to prepare students for social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. The department strives to equip students with a broad base of skills that provide multiple options for a career in social work. With a focus on cultural competence, social justice and working with marginalized communities. MPhil Social Work Program also prepares social researchers and social work practitioners to understand the social problems in society and take initiatives for the solution of these problems. With initiation of PhD Social Work program in 2021, Department of Social Work, IUB has become one of total four Social Work departments in Pakistan having PhD program. With the assistance of Social Work Alumni and welfare organizations, the department will offer scholarship based (free admission) in BS morning program from Fall Semester 2021.
