A committee has been set up at IUB to create awareness about side effects of drugs and discourage their use

On the direction of Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, a committee has been established in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to create awareness about the side effects of drugs and discourage their use. The objectives of setting up the committee include seminars, workshops, special awareness sessions for students and parents in all campuses to create awareness about drug-related diseases. Establishing a policy based on clear and strict rules regarding anti-drugs in the campus, arranging special tests related to drug use, coordinating with law enforcement agencies in this regard, patrolling all campuses by the security department and others actions are ongoing. Committee members include Prof. Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed, Chairman Committee, Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf, Prof. Dr. Nasreen Akhtar, Prof. Dr. Shair Muhammad Malik, Shahzad Ahmad Khalid, Chief Security Officer and Dr. Muhammad Usman Cheema. In this regard, the seminar series organized by the committee has started. The first seminar was organized by Faculty of Law at Abbasia Campus. Earlier, the guest speaker, Dr. Saeed Akhtar Chaudhry, Associate Professor (Retd.), Psychiatrist, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar. The Vice Chancellor appreciated their participation in the seminar. Dean Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Rao Imran Habib presided over the seminar. Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Chairman Committee and members were present on this occasion. Dr. Saeed Akhtar Chaudhry said that currently 6% of Pakistan's total population is using drugs in any way. There is a need to control the availability of drugs and drugs. Social support should be ensured for solving psychological problems while improving the individual and collective environment. The causes of breakdown of the family system should be examined and awareness should be created about mental disorders. وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر کی ہدایت پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں منشیات کے مضراثرات سے آگاہی اور استعمال کی حوصلہ شکنی کے لیے ایک کمیٹی قائم کی گئی ہے۔ کمیٹی کے قیام کے مقاصد میں منشیات کے مضر امراض کے لیے آگاہی کے لیے تمام کیمپسز میں سیمینارز، ورکشاپس،طلباء وطالبات اور والدین کے لیے خصوصی آگاہی سیشن شامل ہیں۔ کیمپس میں انٹی ڈرگزکے حوالے سے واضح اور سخت اصولوں پر مبنی پالیسی ترتیب دینا، منشیات کے استعمال سے متعلق خصوصی ٹیسٹ کا انتظام کرنا،  اس حوالے سے قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں سے رابطہ کاری، شعبہ سیکورٹی کی جانب سے تمام کیمپسز میں پٹرولنگ اور دیگر اقدامات جاری ہیں۔ کمیٹی ممبران میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر فیض الدین احمدچیئرمین کمیٹی، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالراؤف، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نسرین اختر، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیر محمد ملک، شہزاد احمدخالد، چیف سیکورٹی آفیسراور ڈاکٹرمحمد عثمان چیمہ شامل ہیں۔ اس حوالے سے کمیٹی کے زیر اہتمام سیمینار سیریز کا آغاز ہو گیا ہے۔ پہلا سیمینار فیکلٹی آف لاء کے زیر اہتمام عباسیہ کیمپس میں منعقد ہوا۔ اس سے قبل مہمان مقرر ڈاکٹر سعید اختر چوہدری ایسو سی ایٹ پروفیسر(ریٹارئرڈ)ماہر نفسیات، قائداعظم میڈیکل کالج بہاول پور نے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر سے ملاقات کی۔ وائس چانسلر نے سیمینار میں ان کی شرکت کو سراہا۔ سیمینار کی صدارت ڈین فیکلٹی آ ف لاء پروفیسر ڈاکٹر راؤ عمران حبیب نے کی۔ اس موقع پر رجسٹرار پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل،چیئرمین کمیٹی و ممبران شریک تھے۔ ڈاکٹر سعید اختر چوہدری نے کہا کہ اس وقت پاکستان کل آبادی کا 6فیصد کسی نہ کسی طریقے سے منشیات استعمال کررہا ہے۔ ضرورت اس امر کی ہے کہ منشیات اور ڈرگز کی دستیابی کو کنٹرول کیا جائے۔ انفرادی اور اجتماعی ماحول کو بہتر بناتے ہوئے نفسیاتی مسائل کے حل کے لیے سماجی مدد کو یقینی بنایا جائے۔ خاندانی نظام کی ٹوٹ پھوٹ کی وجوہات کا جائزہ لیا جائے اور ذہنی امراض سے متعلق آگاہی پیدا کی جائے۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف لاء پروفیسر ڈاکٹر راؤ عمران حبیب اور ڈاکٹر محمد عثمان چیمہ نے ڈاکٹر سعید اختر چوہدری کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔
