A joint plantation drive was organized at IUB in collaboration with the Farmers Development Organization (FDO).

A joint Tree Plantation Campaign was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur under the collaboration of the Department of Social Work and the Farmers Development Organization. Department of Social Work and Farmers Development Organization trained 350 students from 10 different Departments of the University under the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative. The Tree Plantation Event held today adjacent to the Tabish Alwari Building was the concluding event of the aforementioned training where more than 2500 different types of trees were planted. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture in the capacity of Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Nargis, Naz, Chairperson, Department of Botany, Dr. Aurangzeb, Director, Liaqatpur Campus, Dr. Rashid Shaheen, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture, Dr. Abid Gill, Chairman Department of Economics, Dr. Jam Sajjad, Associate Professor, Department of Media Studies, Dr. Muhammad Latif, Principal Estate Care, Dr. Imran Saifi, Department of Special Education, Muhammad Tahir, Estate Care, Ali Ijaz, Program Manager Farmers Development Organization, Rabia Basri, Monitoring Officer Farmers Development Organization, faculty members of department of Social work, Sociology, Botany, Special Education, Fine Arts, Agronomy, Environmental Sciences, Law. Guests were welcomed by faculty and students of Department of Social Work. Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Chairman Department of Social Work and Sociology, briefed about Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative project, students’ training and university engagement for Climate Resilience and WASH related activities. He thanked all guests, faculty members, Farmers Development Organization team and students for their participation in mega 2500 tree plantation at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi appreciated and congratulated Department of Social Work and Farmers Development Organization on success of needed project at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He encouraged faculty members and students for practical activities to make IUB clean and green and to aware communities on Climate Change.
