A two-day workshop on Intellectual Property titled “How to File a Patent Application” was organized at IUB

Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a two day workshop on Intellectual Property with a theme “How to file a Patent Application”. The workshop was conducted in the conference room of Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. Dr. Farooq Sultan, Consultant, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer and Engr. Hafiz Imtiaz Ahmed, Consultant, Certified Innovation & Technology Commercialization Professional (Georgia Tech, USA) were the trainers of the workshop. Both experts shared their knowledge and experiences, providing valuable insights and guidance to the attendees. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar appreciated ORIC's efforts to promote awareness and understanding about this important topic. He said he was pleased to see ORIC taking the initiative to protect the university's intellectual property rights. The workshop also included interactive sessions, group activities and case studies. Teachers and researchers from various faculties participated in the event. During the workshop, the participants learned about various aspects of intellectual property in the context of Pakistan and American patent laws. On the second day of the workshop, more than 15 faculty members submitted projects to the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan for patent filing. Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif thanked the experts for their visit and the special patronage of the Vice-Chancellor.

آفس آف ریسرچ، انوویشن، اینڈ کمرشلائزیشن (اورک) اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے انٹلیکچوئل پراپرٹی رائٹس کے موضوع پر دو روزہ ورکشاپ کا انعقاد کیا جس کا موضوع ''پیٹنٹ کی درخواست کیسے دائر کی جائے'' تھا۔ڈاکٹر فاروق سلطان، کنسلٹنٹ، انٹلیکچوئل پراپرٹی اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی ٹرانسفر اور انجینئر حافظ امتیاز احمد، کنسلٹنٹ، سرٹیفائیڈ انوویشن اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی کمرشلائزیشن پروفیشنل (جارجیا ٹیک، یو ایس اے) ورکشاپ کے ٹرینر تھے۔ دونوں ماہرین نے پیٹنٹ کے حصول کے طریقہ کار کے حوالے سے حاضرین کی رہنمائی کی۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر نے اس اہم موضوع کے بارے میں آگاہی اور تفہیم کو فروغ دینے کے لیے اورک کی کوششوں کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اورک کو یونیورسٹی کے دانشورانہ املاک کے حقوق کے تحفظ کے لیے پہل کرتے ہوئے دیکھ کر خوشی ہوئی ہے۔ ورکشاپ میں انٹرایکٹو سیشنز، گروپ سرگرمیاں اور کیس اسٹڈیز بھی شامل تھیں۔ تقریب میں مختلف فیکلٹیز سے اساتذہ اور محققین نے شرکت کی۔ ورکشاپ کے دوران شرکاء نے پاکستان اور امریکی پیٹنٹ قوانین کے تناظر میں انٹلیکچوئل پراپرٹی کے مختلف پہلوؤں سے متعلق آگاہی حاصل کی۔ ورکشاپ کے دوسرے دن 15 سے زائد فیکلٹی ممبران نے انٹیلیکچول پراپرٹی آرگنائزیشن آف پاکستان کو پیٹنٹ فائل کرنے کے لیے پراجیکٹس اورک کو جمع کرائے۔ ڈائریکٹر اورک پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد عاطف نے ماہرین کی آمد اور وائس چانسلر کی خصوصی سرپرستی پر شکریہ ادا کیا۔
