An interactive seminar on “Women Empowerment in Pakistan” by the IUB

Fatima Jinnah Women Leadership Center and SDGs Collaboration Center, the IUB jointly conducted an interactive seminar on "Women Empowerment in Pakistan: Challenges and Way Forward' with UN Delegation. The session was moderated by Dr. Salman Bin Naeem, Director SDGs Collaboration Center and Dr. Samar Fahad, Director of the Fatima Jinnah Leadership Center. Dr. Mariam Soharwardi, Additional Director of SDGs Collaboration Center, highlighted the most recent initiatives taken by these centres to advance women's empowerment, and lessen gender inequality. Dr. Mariam Soharwardi and Dr. Samar Fahd also maintained how gender equality and women's empowerment are linked to achieving the other goals. Ms. Sharmeela Rasool, the UN Women country representative stressed upon the significance of gender equality and engaged in conversation with students to learn more about Pakistan's progress towards the 17 SDGs of the UN Global Agenda and what will be needed to accomplish them by 2030. She applauded FJWLC and SDGs CC efforts for taking initiative to empower women and female students in the Southern Punjab by providing education, awareness, skills and and capacity building and other opportunities to achieve their professional aspirations. Mr. Younus Khalid representative UN Women discussed about challenges, barriers and possible solutions for women empowerment. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Chairman, Department of Applied Psychology focused on efforts of IUB for ensuring mental health for well-being. All faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in interactive seminar. UN Women delegates congratulated the Vice Chancellor Eng. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and all team for their outstanding effort to establish these centres for recognizing and advancing women's empowerment in Pakistan, particularly in the area of Sothern Punjab and wished for the eventual success in advancing our women and reducing gender inequality. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti said that to achieve the goals related to quality education, gender equality, climate change, good governance, health and welfare, sustainable cities, green campus project, innovations, peace and justice etc timely steps have been taken under the leadership of Dr. Athar Mahboob. On this occasion, all faculty members and students participated fully in the interactive seminar.

فاطمہ جناح ویمن لیڈر شپ سینٹر اور SDGs کو لیبریشن سینٹر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے مشترکہ طور پر ''پاکستان میں خواتین کو بااختیار بنانا، چیلنجز اور آگے بڑھنے کا راستہ'' کے موضوع پر اقوام متحدہ کے وفد کے ساتھ ایک انٹرایکٹو سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا۔ سیشن کی نظامت ڈاکٹر سلمان بن نعیم، ڈائریکٹر SDGs کولیبریشن سنٹر اور ڈاکٹر محمد بن سلمان نے کی۔ فاطمہ جناح لیڈرشپ سینٹر کی ڈائریکٹر ثمر فہد، ایس ڈی جیز کولیبریشن سینٹر کی ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر مریم سہروردی نے خواتین کو بااختیار بنانے اور صنفی عدم مساوات کو کم کرنے کے لیے ان مراکز کی جانب سے کیے گئے حالیہ اقدامات پر روشنی ڈالی۔ ثمر فہد نے کہا کہ کس طرح صنفی مساوات اور خواتین کو بااختیار بنانا دوسرے اہداف کے حصول سے منسلک ہیں۔ شرمیلا رسول، اقوام متحدہ کی خواتین کی ملک کی نمائندہ نے صنفی مساوات کی اہمیت پر زور دیا اور طالب علموں کے ساتھ بات چیت میں حصہ لیا تاکہ اقوام متحدہ کے عالمی ایجنڈے کے 17 SDGs کی طرف پاکستان کی پیشرفت اور 2030 تک ان کو پورا کرنے کے لیے کیا ضرورت ہو گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ فاطمہ جناح ویمن لیڈر شپ سینٹر اور ایس ڈی جیز کولیبریشن سینٹر جنوبی پنجاب میں خواتین اور طالبات کو تعلیم، آگاہی، ہنر اور صلاحیت کی تعمیر اور ان کی پیشہ ورانہ امنگوں کو حاصل کرنے کے لیے دیگر مواقع فراہم کر کے بااختیار بنانے کے لیے پہل کرنے کے لیے کوششیں کر رہا ہے۔ یونس خالد نمائندہ یو این ویمن نے خواتین کو بااختیار بنانے کے لیے درپیش چیلنجز، رکاوٹوں اور ممکنہ حل کے بارے میں بات کی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد سلیم چیئرمین، شعبہ اپلائیڈ سائیکالوجی نے ذہنی صحت کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پورکی کوششوں کے بارے میں تفصیلی آگاہ کیا۔ یو این ویمن کے مندوبین نے وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنس کو مبارکباد دی اور کہا کہ خاص طور پر جنوبی پنجاب کے علاقے میں خواتین کی بااختیاریت کو تسلیم کرنے اور آگے بڑھانے کے لیے ان مراکز کے قیام کو سراہا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے کہا کہ معیاری تعلیم، صنفی مساوات، موسمیاتی تبدیلی، گڈ گورننس، صحت اور بہبود، پائیدار شہروں، گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ، اختراعات، امن اور انصاف وغیرہ سے متعلقہ اہداف کے حصول کے لیے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی قیادت میں بروقت اقدامات کیے ہیں۔ اس موقع پر تمام فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء نے انٹرایکٹو سیمینار میں بھر پور شرکت کی۔
