About

Tahira Asgher holds a Ph.D. degree in English Linguistics from the prestigious Islamia University of Bahawalpur. She remained an HEC scholar throughout MPhil and PhD. Her research and teaching experience span over a decade.  Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Govt. Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur under IPFP and then she joined The Islamia University of Bahawalpur where she contributed to the development of curriculum and training programs, and mentored numerous students of BS, MPhil and PhD along with her teaching responsibilities. She served as Conference secretary in the HEC-funded International conferences organized by Department of English / Linguistics in 2013, 2017, 2019 & 2022. She has been serving as HEC approved supervisor since April 2019. She has supervised more than 50 MPhil scholars and produced 1 PhD while 5 PhDs are pursuing their doctoral studies under her supervision.  Regarding research, her work has been published in esteemed peer-reviewed national and international journals and has garnered significant recognition within the academic community. She has authored 39 research publications, in HEC approved National and International journals. These publications reflect her commitment to advancing knowledge in the field of English language & Linguistics and to fostering an inclusive and collaborative learning environment. Not only this, she was awarded with the honor of the prominent researcher of the year 2020 by in the Faculty of Arts & Languages, IUB by ORIC IUB.

Furthermore, she has been actively engaged in service by participating in different university, faculty and departmental level committees and in collaborative initiatives. She is the Focal person of the following Departmental committees at the Department of English Linguistics:

2. Female Students Safety & Wellbeing Committee
3. Departmental Research & Innovation Committee
4. Departmental Admission Committee for MPhil English Linguistics (Program)

This showcases her commitment to the university's growth and success. She is the Editor of Journal of Linguistics & Literature and also serving as a reviewer for various journals including,

3. Journal of English Language, Literature and Education (JELLE)
4. Journal of Communication and Cultural Trends (JCCT)

As a Master Trainer in Multan and Bahawalpur, she shared her knowledge and expertise with educators across the region, and have gained valuable insights into the needs of diverse learner populations.
