Profile Summary

Dr Asma Yaqoob has completed her Ph.D. in 2017 in Biochemistry with specialization of plant biochemistry from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Her PhD. research project was entitled Studies on enzyme expression profiles in Cenchrus ciliaris, a Cholistan desert grass, during exposure to some abiotic stress”.She has presented a number of papers in national and international conferences. She also got best presenter certificate in 11th International PSBMB conference on Molecular Biosciences – Challenges and Opportunities held in the university of Punjab Lahore in November 25-28 (2013) in signal transduction section. She is the author of a number of research papers that were published in impact factor journals.

Research interest

Plants are special because all living things need plants to live. Plants have role in environmental homeostasis in such a way that they help to clean water and air.  These innocent green creatures (plants) of ALLAH, bear many hurdles to survive. Being a researcher, I would like to open the windows to see inside them because the endogenous system in plants becomes active under stress (biotic and biotic).  Plants have two arms of antioxidants defense system, the enzymatic and non-enzymatic. My expertise is in the in vivo arm of enzymatic antioxidants of plants. My research team is working on enzyme expression studies in plants.  Moreover we are also trying to establish bioassays in our lab to check bioactivities of active components.
