About

Dr. Awais H. Gillani is a graduate of top and prestigious national and international institutions. He is a media professional, academician, and social and communication researcher. His academic and professional experience, combined, spans over 24 years. So far, Dr. Gillani has published 27 research papers in HEC-recognized W, X, Y (Scopus), and Y (Pakistani) category journals. He contributed one book chapter to a book—Academic Experiences of International Students in Chinese Higher Education—published by Routledge, London, in 2020. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He also Chaired sessions at several national and international conferences. To date (9-12-2024), one PhD scholar and three M.Phil. scholars have completed their degrees under his supervision. He has been the Vice-Chancellor nominee of the IUB Board of Faculty. He is also an advisor to the IUB Digital Media Society. He is an HEC-approved PhD supervisor. Dr. Gillani is an avid researcher with a strong interest in Qualitative research and theory building. His current research interests are Islamic culture and Quranic communication, propaganda, digital activism in the US and Pakistan, journalism and mass communication, alternative media, and human communication. Currently, Dr. Gillani is working on two research projects: (i) How can the human brain be prepared to counter misinformation and disinformation in this hyper-information age of post-truth? and (ii) how to attain social harmony through interpersonal communication. Dr. Gillani’s life philosophy is to invest in the human brain to yield benefits for posterity.
