Profile Summary

Dr. Ghulam Mustafa received his PhD in Plant Genetics and Genomics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in 2014. During his doctoral thesis, he also worked as a visiting researcher at Kansas State University, USA in 2011. Shortly after completing his doctorate, he joined the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan.  At the current institute, he was actively involved in academic, research and administrative activities. He has taught basic and advanced courses of Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Microbiology at graduate and post graduate levels. He has developed a research group on plant-microbe interactions and established research collaborations at national and international levels. He supervises doctoral and master's researchers working on various aspects of plant-microbe interactions. He has participated in various national and international level conferences in the country and shared his knowledge on microbial applications in various industries by presenting research outcome.

Currently Dr. Mustafa focuses on the diversity of microbial populations in the rhizosphere of the Cholistan Desert to explore their potential for human well-being, including agriculture, pharmaceutical and food industries. He plans to play a significant role in the commercial exploitation of these potentially active strains to overcome the limitations of conventional processing in the industrial sector.
