Profile Summary

Dr. Farooq Ahmed is currently an Associate Professor at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He is a medical anthropologist, public health researcher, and author of ~50 peer-reviewed publications. He earned a doctorate by conducting ethnographic research on the complex interplay of political, economic, and cultural determinants of illness and maternal-child malnutrition in Southern Pakistan. His key areas of interest include political economy, social justice, structural violence, social capital, maternal-child health, public health nutrition, public mental health, IYCF, WASH, water insecurity, food insecurity, health-seeking behavior, vaccine acceptance, social construction of health, and social determinants of health.
