Profile Summary

Dr. Gul Naz is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, The Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB). She has completed her PhD (Physics) from Department of Physics, University Technology Malaysia, 81310 UTM, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

•Synthesis, characterization and investigation of physicochemical properties of metal and metal / semiconductor-based composite/hybrid nanostructures.

•Absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy, and electron microscopic study of various nanostructures.

•Nanomaterials for UV, visible and direct sunlight-induced photocatalysis and antibacterial activities.

•Pristine and composite nanomaterials for photo-driven applications, like photodetectors.

•One-dimensional (1D) nanostructures for flexible and transparent conductors.

•Electrochemical measurements for chemical sensors and storage devices.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

•Expertise in the chemical/green synthesis of metal (Au, Ag, Cu, Fe etc.) and metal-oxide (Cu2O, ZnO, SnO2 etc.) nanostructures using hydrothermal, seed-growth, sol-gel, co-precipitate, wet- chemical and green approaches.

•Fabrication of core-shell hybrid and composite nanostructures.

•Basic skills and data analyses of UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, FTIR, TGA, PL spectroscopy, Raman & XPS spectroscopy, DLS and Zeta potential equipment.

•Expertise on the evolution of growth mechanism of metal nanostructures through TEM and SEM analyses.

•Expertise on fabricating flexible transparent conducting PET films.

•Basic skills and handling of EndNote, OriginPro, UnitCell and CasaXPS softwares.

•Supervising annual research projects of MSc and BS (hons) classes in the field of Nanotechnology.
