About

I have completed my PhD (Medical Physics) in January 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. I won Indigenous Scholarship by Higher Education Commission (HEC) for M.Phil and PhD. I won another scholarship to complete my PhD named as International Research support initiative program (IRSIP) by HEC and worked in Princess Margaret Cancer Center, Toronto, Canada. I am doing research in Medical Physics as well as in materials modeling and simulation. Have supervised and supervising BS, MPhil and PhD scholars. I am teaching different subjects in MPhil/PhD and BS/MSc classes i.e. Mathematical Methods of Physics, Electromagnetic Theory, Materials Science, Electronics, Magnetism, Optical Properties of Materials etc. My main area of research is modelling, simulation of 2D materials and its application. Therefore, I am working on the structural, electronic, magnetic properties of 2D materials and their applications in gas sensing, spintronics, lithium-, sodium-, and potassium-ion batteries, hydrogen storage, nanotubes for drug delivery. I have published quality research papers in peer-reviewed journals and some book chapters with Elsevier Publishers.

Research Interests

My area of research is Medical Physics and Computational Materials Science, particularly Condensed Matter Physics, DFT-based studies. Following is the detail of my focus points:

  • Adsorption of gases on 2D material for gas sensing applications.
  • Doping and adsorption of metals on 2D materials for spintronic applications.
  • Adsorption of Alkali metals for Lithium, Sodium, and Potassium ion batteries.
  • Alkali metal decoration for Hydrogen storage.
  • Nanotubes for Anticancer drug.

Properties: structural, electronic, thermodynamic, adsorption, and magnetic properties by using first-principles methods. Working experience with scientific equipment 1. ADF: BAND 2. ADF:DFTB 3. ADF: ReaXFF
