Profile Summary

Dr. Safdar Imran is currently working as Assistant Professor, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). He completed graduation as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF). He completed M.Sc.(Hons) and PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG) from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, UAF. Dr. Imran has been working on research projects with a focus on the development of egg type chicken lines for backyard poultry production. Dr. Imran had been working on the implementation of reproductive biotechnologies for genetic improvement of goat breeds, sire selection, dissemination of superior genetics, and selection of thermotolerant animals. Dr. Imran has expertise in the area of qualitative genetics, quantitative, biometrical genetics and computational biology. The current focus of research is documentation of genetic variations for adaptability traits in indigenous animal genetic resources, selection, breeding and propagation of climate smart animals (environment friendly, thermotolerance and efficient productivity with the least carbon footprints) for sustainable animal production using genetic and genomic selection approaches.
