Prof. Dr. Syed Shahid Hassan Rizvi (b.1957) belongs to a very literate family. He is son of Syed Mas’ud Hassan Shihab Dehlvi a critic, historian, journalist, and Urdu poet of eminence.

He got all his education from the various institutes of the city. He is a dynamic personality in the fields of literature, history, and Culture of Cholistan. He starts his service in the Department of History and Pakistan Studies, IUB in 1983 and retired as Professor of History in 2017.

He has organized number of academic seminars, workshops, and exhibition in collaboration with national and regional organizations. He was in-charge of students’ union in 1988-1990, and adviser of university magazine Saroosh. He remained member of senate, IUB from 20012 to 2017 and member of academic council and BASR, IUB.

Currently, he is member of Board of Governors Punjab Library Foundation, member of Board of Governors, Bahawalpur Museum Bahawalpur, and Member of Executive Committee of Central Library Bahawalpur. He is General Secretary of Urdu Academy Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur Historical Society. He is Vice President of Cholistan Welfare Council of Arts and Institute of Research and Annals of Pakistan, Bahawalpur. He is editor of Research Journal Ulum-e-Islamia IUB 2005-to 2012, Quarterly Research Journal Az-Zubair Bahwalpur (1990- to date) under his editorship many special editions of the said journal are issued such as Bahawalpur Number, Khawaja Farid Number and Safar Nama Number Cholistan Number and Tanz-o-Mazha number. His more than 50 articles have been published in various H.E.C recognized journals. He has written and compiled several books on various themes. He has attended 30 national and International Conferences, he served as Chairman, Department of History, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.
