Awareness walk organized by Islamia University of Bahawalpur on the occasion of World Environment Day 2023

Bahawalpur (PR): Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that the planet is our home and it is our responsibility to pass it on to the future generations in a safe manner. The Vice-Chancellor expressed these views on the occasion of the awareness walk organized by Institute of Agro Industry and Environment the Islamia University of Bahawalpur on World Environment Day. He said that every year on this day, the United Nations raises awareness for the protection of the environment by celebrating the World Environment Day so that measures can be taken for the survival of the natural environment. The theme of this year's World Environment Day is to eliminate plastic pollution. Individual and collective efforts are needed for the preservation and survival of life on earth. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has formed an Inter-University Consortium for Conservation and Survival. The purpose of this consortium is to unite the experts and resources of national and international universities to protect the environment so that this big challenge can be effectively faced. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has received this honor for leading universities around the world for the survival and protection of the environment. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Chairman Department of Plant Pathology Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naveed Aslam Mulghani, Chairman Institute of Agro Industry and Environment Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi, senior faculty members, alumni and students were present. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain said that food and fruits produced in the natural environment are better than genetically produced products. Improper use is the main cause of natural disasters. On this occasion, Dr. Ghulam Hassan Abbasi said that all members of the society should take steps for the growth and protection of animals, birds, plants and trees in the national interest. Due to global warming, the rainfall rate in Pakistan is decreasing significantly. Emissions of greenhouse gases from vehicles, factories, and deforestation are increasing, resulting in changes in the biological balance of Pakistan's agricultural system. Due to various types of pollution, the organisms in the air, land and sea are under threat.

بہاول پور (پ ر): پروفیسر ڈاکٹراطہر محبوب چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے کہا کہ کرہ ارض ہمارا گھر ہے اور ہماری ذمہ داری ہے کہ اسے محفوظ انداز میں آئندہ نسلوں تک منتقل کیاجائے۔ وائس چانسلر نے ان خیالات کا اظہار عالمی یوم ماحولیات کے موقع پر انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ایگر و انڈسٹری اینڈ اینوارئمنٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے زیر اہتمام آگاہی واک کے موقع پر کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اقوام متحدہ ہر سال آج کے دن عالمی یوم ماحولیات منا کر ماحول کے تحفظ کے لیے شعور اُجاگر کرتی ہے تاکہ قدرتی ماحول کی بقا ء کے لیے اقدامات کیے جاسکیں۔ اس سال عالمی یوم ماحولیات کا تھیم پلاسٹک کی آلودگی سے نجات ہے۔ زمین پر موجود حیات کے تحفظ اور بقا کیلئے انفرادی اور اجتماعی کوششوں کی ضرورت ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم برائے تحفظ اور بقائے حیات تشکیل دیا ہے۔ اس کنسورشیم کا مقصد ملکی اور عالمی جامعات کے ماہرین اور وسائل کو ماحول کے تحفظ کیلئے یکجا کرنا ہے تاکہ اس بڑے چیلنج کا موثر طریقے سے مقابلہ کیا جا سکے۔ یہ اعزاز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کو وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی سربراہی میں حاصل ہوا کہ ماحولیات کے بقا اور تحفظ کے لئے دنیا بھر کی جامعات کی کی قیادت کر رہی ہے۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین، رجسٹرار پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، چیئرمین شعبہ پلانٹ پتھالوجی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نوید اسلم ملغانی، چیئرمین انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ایگرو انڈسٹری اینڈ اینوائمنٹ ڈاکٹر غلام حسن عباسی، سینئر فیکلٹی ممبرز، ایلومینائی اور طلباء وطالبات موجود تھے۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین کا کہنا تھا کہ قدرتی ماحول میں پیدا کردہ خوراک اور پھل جینیاتی طور پر پیدا کردہ اجناس سے بہتر ہوتے ہیں۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل نے کہا کہ درختوں کی کٹائی، توانائی اور قدرتی وسائل کا ضیاع اور پانی کا نامناسب استعمال قدرتی آفات کی بڑی وجہ ہے۔ اس موقع پر ڈاکٹر غلام حسن عباسی نے کہا کہ معاشرے کے تمام افراد کو قومی مفاد میں جانوروں، پرندوں، پودوں اور درختوں کی افزائش اور تحفظ کے لیے اقدامات کرنے چاہئیں۔ گلوبل وارمنگ کی وجہ سے پاکستان میں بارشوں کی شرح میں نمایاں کمی ہو رہی ہے۔ گاڑیوں، فیکٹریوں کے دھوئیں اور جنگلات کے کٹاؤ سے گرین ہاؤس گیسوں کے اخراج میں اضافہ ہورہا ہے جس کے نتیجے میں پاکستان کے زرعی نظام سمیت حیاتیاتی توازن میں تبدیلیاں رونما ہو رہی ہیں۔ مختلف قسم کی آلودگیوں کے باعث فضا، زمین اور سمندر میں موجود حیاتیات خطرے سے دوچار ہیں۔
