Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, Governor Punjab and Chancellor have praised the research work in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur reviving cotton known as the silver crop. He highly appreciated the cotton varieties developed by the researchers of the University, fit in short window and mature within 120 days. The Governor also acknowledged the leadership of Engr. Prof Dr Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor providing congenial environment for teaching and research ensuring quality education as well as enhancing students enrolment up to 15000 during the current semester. Prof Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chairman Plant Breeding and Genetics Department and Director ORIC  briefed the Chancellor about the latest cotton varieties showing remarkable progress under conditions of drought , high temperature and successful against diseases like curl leave virus and white fly having high density per acre with enhanced yield. On this occasion, Khalid Khoker, President Pakistan Kisan Itehad and Ch Naseer from Fatima Fertilizer were also present.

چودھری محمد سرور، گورنر پنجاب اور چانسلر نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں کپاس کی بحالی اور تحقیقی کام کی تعریف کی ہے۔ انہوں نے یونیورسٹی کے محققین کی تیار کردہ کپاس کی اقسام کو سراہاجو کہ شارٹ ونڈو میں فٹ ہوجاتے ہیں اور 120 دن میں پختہ ہوجاتی ہیں۔ گورنر پنجاب نے انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب، وائس چانسلر کی قیادت کو بھی تسلیم کیا جن کی سربراہی میں جامعہ میں تعلیم اور تحقیق کے معیار کو یقینی بنانے کے ساتھ ساتھ موجودہ سیمسٹر کے دوران طلباء کے داخلے میں 15000 تک اضافہ کرنے کے لئے آسان ماحول فراہم کیا ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اقبال چیئرمین پلانٹ بریڈنگ اینڈ جینٹکس ڈیپارٹمنٹ اور ڈائریکٹر او آر آئی سی نے چانسلر کو تازہ ترین کپاس کی اقسام کے بارے میں آگاہ کیا جن میں خشک سالی، اعلی درجہ حرارت اور کرل لیوا وائرس اور سفید مکھی جیسی بیماریوں کے خلاف کامیاب کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کیا گیا ہے جس میں ایک ایکڑ میں کثافت زیادہ ہے۔. اس موقع پر، خالد کھوکر، صدر پاکستان کسان اتحاد اور فاطمہ کھاد سے چودھری نصیر بھی موجود تھے۔
