Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that Punjab Higher Education Commission is providing full support to universities for teaching, research and quality improvement. He expressed these views while meeting Director Coordination Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr. Tanveer Qasim and Public Relations Officer University of Home Economics Lahore Dr. Akmal Soomro in his office. He said that the Punjab Higher Education Commission wants to promote respect for religions and humanity in the society through universities so that moderation and tolerance can be promoted, which is a welcome thing. He said that the Punjab Higher Education Commission in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organizing a seminar on the subject of religious harmony and tolerance will be very useful for teachers and students. On this occasion, Dean Faculty Islamic and Arabic Studies Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rehman, Controller of Examinations Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Paracha, Director Alumni Dr. Shahid Mehmood, Director Media and Public Relations Shahzad Ahmed Khalid were also present. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar also awarded Alumni Shield to Dr. Tanveer Qasim and Dr. Akmal Soomro. Meanwhile, a one-day seminar titled "The impact of Interfaith Programs in Pakistani Universities on Religious Tolerance and Understanding" was organized by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the support of Punjab Higher Education Commission at Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus. Dr. Tanveer Qasim, Director Coordination Punjab Higher Education Commission has said that inter-faith harmony is the guarantee of social and economic development. Extremist behavior and hateful thinking are leading us to decline. For the improvement of the society, the research done in the university should be beneficial for the state. Our religion and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaches us mutual respect, patience and tolerance. The main purpose of universities is to provide scientific solutions to the current problems of the society. Fifty-five percent of the world's population consists of followers of Islam and Christianity. Through the promotion of dialogue and harmony, the ways of establishing peace in the world can be paved. We need to research Islamophobia as well as Muslimphobia. Dr. Akmal Soomro, Public Relations Officer, University of Home Economics, Lahore, said that there should be research on the topics of promoting peace and tolerance in universities so that the society can benefit from it. Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiq ur Rehman Dean Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies the Islamia University of Bahawalpur while addressing the participants of the seminar said that we should promote inter-faith harmony as well as inter-religious harmony. He said that the universities should organize academic and intellectual training for the promotion of religious tolerance among the youth. On this occasion, Director Seerat Chair Prof. Dr. Hafiz Shafiq ur Rehman, Dr. Shajila Kaushar Chairperson Department of World Religions and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Jibran Jamshed Chairman Department of Law and a large number of faculty members and students participated.

وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر نے کہا ہے کہ پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن جامعات میں تدریس وتحقیق اور معیار میں بہتری کے لیے جامعات کی بھرپور معاونت کر رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے اس بات کا اظہار اپنے دفتر میں ڈائریکٹر کوارڈینیشن پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن ڈاکٹر تنویر قاسم اور پبلک ریلیشنز آفیسر یونیورسٹی آف ہوم اکنامکس لاہور ڈاکٹر اکمل سومرو سے ملاقات کے دوران کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن جامعات کے ذریعے معاشرے میں احترام مذاہب اور انسانیت کا شعور بیدا کرنا چاہتا ہے تاکہ اعتدال اور رواداری کو فروغ مل سکے جو ایک خوش آئند امر ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیویرسٹی بہاول پور میں پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے اشتراک سے مذہبی ہم آہنگی و رواداری کے موضوع پر سیمینار کا انعقاد اساتذہ اور طلبا وطالبات کے لیے انتہائی مفید ہو گا۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی اسلامک اینڈ عربیک سٹڈیز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن، کنٹرولر امتحانات پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سجاد احمد پراچہ، ڈائریکٹر ایلومینائی ڈاکٹر شاہد محمود، ڈائریکٹر میڈیا اینڈ پبلک ریلیشنز شہزاد احمد خالد بھی موجود تھے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر نے ڈاکٹر تنویر قاسم اور ڈاکٹر اکمل سومرو کو ایلومینائی شیلڈ بھی عطا کی۔ دریں اثناء پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے تعاون سے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے زیرِ اہتمام ایک روزہ سیمینار بعنوان ''پاکستانی جامعات میں بین المذاہب پروگراموں کے مذہبی رواداری اور افہام و تفہیم پر اثرات'' کے موضوع پر سیمینار غلام محمد گھوٹوی ہال عباسیہ کیمپس میں منعقد ہوا۔ مہمان خصوصی ڈاکٹر تنویر قاسم، ڈائریکٹر کوارڈینیشن پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن  نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی معاشرتی ومعاشی ترقی کی ضمانت ہے۔ شدت پسندانہ رویے اور نفرت پر مبنی سوچ ہمیں تنزلی کی طرف لے کر جارہی ہے۔ معاشرے کی اصلاح، تعمیروترقی کے لیے یونیورسٹی میں ہونے والی ریسرچ ریاست کے لیے سود مند ہونی چاہیے۔ ہمارا دین اور اسوہ رسولﷺ ہمیں باہم احترام، تحمل اور بردباری کا درس دیتا ہے۔ جامعات کا بنیادی مقصد معاشرے کے موجودہ مسائل کا سائنسی بنیادوں پرحل پیش کرنا ہے۔ دنیا کی پچپن فیصد آبادی اسلام اور عیسائیت کے ماننے والوں پر مشتمل ہے۔ مکالمے اور ہم آہنگی کے فروغ کے ذریعے دنیا میں قیام امن کی راہیں ہموار ہوسکتی ہیں۔ ہمیں اسلاموفوبیا کے ساتھ ساتھ مسلم فوبیا پر بھی تحقیق کرنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ ڈاکٹر اکمل سومرو پبلک ریلیشنز آفیسر یونیورسٹی آف ہوم اکنامکس لاہور نے کہا کہ جامعات میں امن اور رواداری کے فروغ کے موضوعات پر تحقیق ہونی چاہیے تاکہ سوسائٹی اس سے مستفید ہو۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عربیک سٹڈیزاسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے شرکاء سیمینار سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہمیں بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کے فروغ کے ساتھ ساتھ بین المسالک ہم آہنگی کو بھی فروغ دینا چاہیے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نوجوانوں میں مذہبی رواداری کے فروغ کے لیے جامعات علمی و فکری تربیت کا اہتمام کریں۔ اس موقع پر ڈائریکٹر سیرت چیئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر حافظ شفیق الرحمن، ڈاکٹر شجیلہ کوثر چیئرپرسن شعبہ عالمی مذاہب اور بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی، ڈاکٹر جبران جمشید چیئرمین شعبہ لاء، فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء و طالبات کی کثیر تعداد شریک تھے۔
