Federal Minister of State, Ms. Zartaj Gul Awards Pakistan Scottish Scholarships to 71 Female IUB Graduates

The Federal Minister of State for Climate Change, Ms. Zartaj Gul, has emphasized the importance of giving women a higher status in society and equal opportunities for education and employment and making them central in the national mainstream. The Minister of State expressed these views in her address at the Scottish Scholarship Distribution Ceremony at the Main Auditorium, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus today. She said that it was much pleasured that 71 female students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur were being given Scottish Scholarships by the British Council. "Our women are second to none in the world in terms of their talent and are performing at their best in every field," she said. She advised the students to focus on education, character building and a better future so that they could continue to play their role in the development of Pakistan. She said that the provision of scholarships by the British Council to 220 female students of Pakistan is very welcome and the provision of these scholarships to the female students of South Punjab is a matter of great pleasure for them. The Minister of State said that we have a clear example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that he used to stand in honor of Hazrat Fatima (PBUH). Women have a very high position in Islamic society and in the world in this regard and we have to move forward by making this high position a stepping stone to development. She praised the lush green campus of Islamia University Bahawalpur and congratulated the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob on it. She said that thousands of students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur deserved congratulations for continuing their teaching and research activities in such an excellent and conducive educational environment. She appreciated the ongoing academic and co-curricular activities in the university and especially the practical participation of the students in all these processes. Addition of more than 500 PhD graduates, 123 departments, Cotton Research, Scholarships for 25% students is an encouraging sign for progress. He also mentioned Ms. Fatima Jinnah, thanks to whom Quaid-e-Azam achieved the goal of Pakistan. In his address on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has shown significant progress and performance in every field in the last one and half years. The number of faculty has increased from 500 to 1000. Similarly, the number of male and female students has increased from 13,000 to 42,000 according to the potential of this university. He said that under a three year development plan, four major academic blocks and four hostels would be constructed at Islamia University Bahawalpur to provide quality facilities for teaching and research to the students. Amir Ramzan, the Country head of the British Council, in his virtual address said that the award of 71 scholarships to Islamia University Bahawalpur is a source of joy for all of us. He said that 13,000 applications were received from all over the country and 220 applications were accepted out of which 71 were given to Islamia University Bahawalpur. Director Financial Assistant Ghulam Hassan Abbasi said on the occasions that thanks to the special interest and efforts of the Vice Chancellor, now 25% of the students of Islamia University are benefiting from various scholarship schemes. He said that after the Prime Minister's Pakistan Ehsaas Scholarship Program, Punjab Government Scholarships, Higher Education Scholarships and other Institutional Scholarships, now the British Council Scholarships are very welcome for our female students to pursue higher education. The event was attended by senior teachers, officers, civil society representatives, Malik Habibullah Bhutta, Syed Tabish Alwari, Sumera Malik and media representatives. Earlier, when the Minister of State arrival the Islamia University Bahawalpur, she was received by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob in his office. On this occasion, she inaugurated the Prime Minister's Tree Planting Campaign to plant one lakh trees at the Islamia University Bahawalpur. She planted a tree in the greenery outside the Vice Chancellor's office. The Minister of State also visited the College of Art and Design during her visit to the Islamia University Bahawalpur. On this occasion, College Principal Ms. Maria Ansari provided information about the ongoing educational activities in the college. Minister of State Ms. Zartaj Gul also inaugurated art work display at the College of Art and Design on the occasion.

وفاقی وزیر مملکت برائے موسمیاتی تبدیلی محترمہ زرتاج گل نے معاشرے میں خواتین کے اعلیٰ مقام اورتعلیم اور روزگار کے مساوی مواقع اور اُن کو قومی دھارے میں مرکزی مقام دلانے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا ہے۔ وزیر مملکت نے ان خیالات کا اظہار آج مرکزی آڈیٹوریم بغداد الجدید کیمپس میں سکاٹش سکالرشپس کی تقریب تقسیم وظائف  کے موقع پراپنے خطاب میں کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ امر انتہائی خوش آئند ہے کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں 71طالبات  کو برٹش کونسل کی جانب سے سکاٹش سکالرشپس دئیے جا رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہماری خواتین اپنے ٹیلنٹ کے لحاظ سے دنیا میں کسی سے بھی پیچھے نہیں ہیں اور ہر شعبے میں اپنی بہترین کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کر رہی ہیں۔ انہوں نے طالبات سے کہا کہ وہ اپنی بھرپور توجہ تعلیم، کردار سازی اور بہتر مستقبل پر مرکوز رکھیں تاکہ پاکستان کی ترقی میں اپنا کردار ادا کرتی رہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ برٹش کونسل کی جانب سے پاکستان کی 220طالبات کو سکالرشپس کی فراہمی انتہائی خوش آئند امر ہے اور جنوبی پنجاب کی طالبات کے لیے ان سکالرشپس کی فراہمی اُن کے لیے باعث مسرت ہے۔ وزیر مملکت نے کہا کہ ہمارے لیے نبی کریم ﷺ کی روشن مثال سامنے ہے کہ  آپ ﷺ حضرت فاطمہ ؓ کی تعظیم میں خود کھڑے ہو جاتے تھے۔ خواتین کا اسلامی معاشرے میں اور دنیا میں اسی لحاظ سے بہت بلند مقام ہے اور ہمیں اسی بلند مقام کو ترقی کا زینہ بناتے ہوئے آگے بڑھنا ہے۔ انہوں نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے سرسبز اور شاداب کیمپس کی تعریف کی اور اس پر وائس چانسلر کو مبارکباد ی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے ہزاروں طالب علم مبارکباد کے مستحق ہیں کہ اس قدر بہترین اور سازگار تعلیمی ماحول میں اپنی تدریسی اور تحقیقی سرگرمیاں جاری رکھے ہوئے ہیں۔ انہوں نے جامعہ میں جاری تعلیمی اور ہم نصابی سرگرمیوں کو سراہا اور خاص طور پر  طالبات کی اس تمام عمل میں عملی شراکت داری کو سراہا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور گرین کیمپس بڑا اور خوبصورت ہے۔ 500سے زائدپی ایچ ڈی گریجویٹس، 123شعبہ جات، کاٹن ریسرچ، سکالرشپس کی فراہمی خوش آئند ہے۔ انہوں نے محترمہ فاطمہ جناح کا بھی خاص ذکر کیا جن کی بدولت قائدا عظم نے پاکستان کی منزل حاصل کی۔ اس موقع پر اپنے خطاب میں وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے گزشتہ ڈیڑھ برس میں ہر شعبے میں نمایاں ترقی اور کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کیا ہے۔ فیکلٹی کی تعداد 500 سے بڑھ کر1000ہو گئی ہے۔ اِسی طرح طلباء وطالبات کی تعداد اس یونیورسٹی کے پوٹینشل کے مطابق 13000سے بڑھ کر42000ہو گئی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایک تین سالہ ترقیاتی منصوبے کے تحت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں چار بڑے اکیڈمک بلاکس اور چار ہاسٹلز تعمیر کیے جائیں گے تاکہ طلباء وطالبات کو تدریس اور تحقیق کے لیے معیاری سہولتیں میسر ہو سکیں۔ برٹش کونسل کے سربراہ عامر رمضان نے اپنے ورچول خطاب میں کہا کہ اُن کی جانب سے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کو 71سکالرشپ کی فراہمی ہم سب کے لیے خوشی کا باعث ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ملک بھر سے 13ہزار درخواستیں موصول ہوئیں اور 220درخواستیں منظور ہوئیں جن میں سے 71اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کو دی گئیں ہیں۔ ڈائریکٹر فنانشل اسسٹنٹس غلام حسن عباسی نے اس موقع پر بتایا کہ وائس چانسلر کی خصوصی دلچسپی اور کاوشوں کی بدولت اب جامعہ اسلامیہ کے 25فیصد طلباء وطالبات وظائف کی مختلف سکیموں سے مستفید ہو رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وزیر اعظم پاکستان احساس سکالرشپ پروگرام، حکومت پنجاب کے وظائف، ہائر ایجوکیشن کے وظائف اور دیگر اِداروں کے وظائف کے بعد اب ہماری طالبات کے لیے برٹش کونسل کے وظائف انتہائی خوش آئند ہے جو یہاں کی مستحق طالبات کو اعلیٰ تعلیم حاصل کرنے میں ممد ومعاون ثابت ہوں گے۔ تقریب میں سینئر اساتذہ کرام، افسران، سول سوسائٹی کے نمائندوں، ملک حبیب اللہ بھٹہ، سید تابش الوری اور میڈیا کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ اس سے قبل وزیر مملکت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور تشریف لائیں تو وائس چانسلرانجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبو ب نے اُن کا اپنے دفتر میں استقبال کیا۔ اس موقع پر انہوں نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں ایک لاکھ درخت لگانے کی وزیر اعظم پاکستان کی شجر کاری مہم کے تحت کاافتتاح کیا۔ انہوں نے اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر کے دفتر کے باہر سبزہ زار میں پودا لگایا۔ وزیر مملکت نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے دورے کے دوران کالج آف ارٹ ائنڈ ڈیزائن کا بھی دورہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر کالج پرنسپل ماریہ انصاری نے کالج میں جاری تعلیمی سرگرمیوں سے متعلق آگاہی فراہم کی۔ وزیر مملکت محترمہ زرتاج گل نے اس موقع پر کالج آف آرٹ اینڈ ڈائزین میں فن پاروں کا بھی افتتاح کیا۔ تقریب میں کووڈ 19کے ایس او پیز کے مطابق ہال میں آدھی نشستیں خالی رکھی گئیں اور دیگر ایس اوپیز پر بھی عملدرآمد کیا گیا۔
