Social Media Summit was organized for the first time in Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Center for Media, Society and Democracy and the Directorate of Public Relations organized the first Social Media Summit at the Islamia University Bahawalpur. Speaking on this occasion, President Press Club Lahore Azam Chaudhry said that the achievements achieved under the leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are of universal nature. The university has made extraordinary progress in all fields in a short period of just three years. It was a great pleasure to meet the teachers and students engaged in teaching and research activities and visit the development projects in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus. It is hoped that this university will soon join some of the big universities not only in Pakistan but also in the world. He said that social media is fast replacing print and electronic media and has become the primary source of information. Electronic media and newspaper industry are suffering from economic difficulties, especially newspaper printing has become a big challenge. Nowadays, the only successful companies are those whose social media system is strong. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Rana, Chairman, Department of Media and Communication Studies said that the arrival of the delegation from Press Club Lahore to Bahawalpur and the visit to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is very welcome. He said that the Department of Media Studies the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has produced big names in the world of media who are shining the name of the country and the university at the national and international level. Director Public Relations Shahzad Ahmed Khalid gave a detailed briefing on the university social media platforms on this occasion. He said that nearly 2 million social media users are connected to the social media of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He said that Facebook account of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is very popular among teachers, students and university community. The number of university Facebook followers is 1,63,000. Similarly, the university is also effectively highlighting the curricular and co-curricular activities of the university on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Linkedin. The university also has a web channel called IUB News. All these social media accounts are managed by Public Relations Office. Apart from this, printing of newsletters, annual reports, prospectus and various books is also done by this department. Dr. Jam Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Media and Communication Studies and Director FM 92 News said that the annual social media summit will be organized in the university and this is the first link in this series to promote the positive aspects of social media, a social media society has also been established in which the students associated with it are promoting healthy activities through various social media platforms with great dedication and hard work. He thanked the delegation of Lahore Press Club for coming to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and participating in the Social Media Summit.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں پہلی سوشل میڈیا سمٹ سنٹر فار میڈیا، سوسائٹی اینڈ ڈیموکریسی، ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف پبلک ریلیشنز اورا ٓئی یو بی سوشل میڈیا سوسائٹی کے زیر اہتمام منعقد ہوئی۔ اس موقع پر خطاب کرتے ہوئے صدر پریس کلب لاہور اعظم چوہدری نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب کی قیادت میں حاصل ہونے والی کامیابیاں عالمگیر نوعیت کی ہیں۔ یونیورسٹی نے صرف تین برسوں کی قلیل مدت میں ہرشعبے میں غیر معمولی ترقی کی ہے۔ بغداد الجد ید کیمپس میں تدریسی و تحقیقی سرگرمیوں میں مصروف اساتذہ اور طلباء وطالبات سے ملاقات اور ترقیاتی منصوبوں کا دورہ کر کے بہت خوشی ہوئی۔ امید ہے کہ یہ یونیورسٹی جلد ہی نہ صرف پاکستان بلکہ عالمی سطح کی چند بڑی یونیورسٹیوں میں شامل ہو جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ سوشل میڈیا تیزی سے پرنٹ اور الیکٹرانک میڈیا کی جگہ لے رہا ہے اور معلومات کا اولین ذریعے بن گیا ہے۔ الیکٹرانک میڈیا اور اخباری صنعت معاشی مشکلات کا شکار ہیں خصوصا اخبار کی پرنٹنگ بہت بڑا چیلنج بن گئی ہے۔ دور حاضر میں وہی ادارے کامیاب ہیں جن کا سوشل میڈیا سسٹم مضبوط ہے۔ اس موقع پر خطاب کرتے ہوئے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شہزاد رانا چیئرمین شعبہ میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سٹڈیز نے کہا کہ پریس کلب لاہور سے وفد کی بہاول پور آمد اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کا دورہ انتہائی خوش آئند امر ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ شعبہ میڈیا سٹڈیز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے میڈیا کی دنیا میں بڑے نام پیدا کیے ہیں جو قومی اور عالمی سطح پر وطن عزیز اور یونیورسٹی کا نام روشن کر رہے ہیں۔ ڈائریکٹر پبلک ریلیشنز شہزاد احمد خالد نے اس موقع پر یونیورسٹی سوشل میڈیا پلیٹ فارمز سے متعلق تفصیلی بریفنگ دی۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ قریبا 2 ملین سوشل میڈیا صارفین اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے سوشل میڈیا سے منسلک ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی  بہاولپور کا فیس بک اکاؤنٹ اساتذہ، طلباء وطالبات اور یونیورسٹی کمیونٹی میں بے حد مقبول ہے۔ یونیورسٹی فیس بک کے فالورز کی تعداد 1,63,000 ہے۔ اسی طرح یونیورسٹی ٹوئٹر، یوٹیوب، انسٹا گرام اور لنکڈان پر بھی موثر انداز میں یونیورسٹی کی نصابی اور ہم نصابی سرگرمیوں کو اجاگر کر رہی ہے۔ یونیورسٹی کا آئی یو بی نیوز کے نام سے ایک ویب چینل بھی ہے۔ یہ تمام سوشل میڈیا اکاؤنٹس پبلک ریلیشن آفس کے زیر اہتمام چلائے جاتے ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ نیوز لیٹر، سالانہ رپورٹ، پراسپکٹس اور مختلف کتب کی پرنٹنگ بھی اس شعبے سے ہوتی ہے۔ ڈاکٹر جام سجاد حسین اسسٹنٹ پروفیسرشعبہ میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سٹڈیز اور ڈائریکٹر ایف ایم 92 نیوز نے کہا کہ یونیورسٹی میں سالانہ سوشل میڈیا سمٹ کا انعقاد ہو گا اور یہ اس سلسلے کی پہلی کڑی ہے۔ سوشل میڈیا کے مثبت پہلوؤں کو فروغ دینے کے لیے سوشل میڈیا سوسائٹی بھی قائم کی گئی ہے جس سے وابستہ طلباء و طالبات بہت لگن اور محنت سے مختلف سوشل میڈیا پلیٹ فارم کے ذریعے صحت مند سرگرمیوں کو فروغ دے رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے لاہور پریس کلب کے وفد کی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی آمد اور سوشل میڈیا سمٹ میں شرکت پر شکریہ ادا کیا۔
