Governor Punjab Engr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman has appreciated the efforts of the IUB in the context of climate change

Governor Punjab Engr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman has appreciated the efforts of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the context of climate change, sustainability and conservation in the All Punjab Vice Chancellor Conference. Addressing at the opening ceremony of the conference jointly organized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Punjab Higher Education Commission, University of Education Lahore and Kohsar University Murree, Governor Punjab said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has established an Inter-University Consortium for Environment which is a commendable move. Addressing the conference, Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has established the first Inter-University Consortium on Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Conservation. He said that climate change is affecting the human being which is not under the control of a single person or an institution. Climate change awareness cannot be achieved unless we all work together on it. We have to look at how much the climate has changed due to industrial development over the years and is now affecting the climate very rapidly because of the combination of gases that are adversely affecting the climate. Due to which the temperature of the earth is increasing. The industry in Pakistan is not yet like that of developed countries like India, China, Europe and other countries which are affecting the environment more but its effects are also affecting us. That is why the intra-university consortium was changed into an inter-university consortium which includes more than 50 universities and when Governor Punjab Engr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rahman was briefed in this regard, he also agreed to continue this program with full force and provided a platform where experts from all over the world are working on it. The Vice-Chancellor said that currently 125 degree programs at BS level are going on in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in which Agriculture, Environmental Sciences are also taught. Also MS Climate Change has been started as our region is getting more affected by climate change. We established the Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, a department that will conduct research on climate change in Cholistan. An Environment Society has been established in the University which organizes environmental awareness seminars and programs in the University. A 3 MW solar power park has been set up in the university which helps to meet the energy needs of the university and is a major source of renewable energy.

گورنر پنجاب انجینئر محمد بلیغ الرحمن نے آل پنجاب وائس چانسلر کانفرنس میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی موسمیاتی تبدیلی، بقاء اور تحفظ کے حوالے سے کوششوں کو سراہا ہے۔ ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن آف پاکستان، پنجاب ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن، یونیورسٹی آف ایجوکیشن لاہور اور کوہسار یونیورسٹی مری کے اشتراک سے ہونے والی کانفرنس کی افتتاحی تقریب میں خطاب کرتے ہوئے انہو ں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم برائے ماحولیات قائم کیا جو قابل تحسین اقدام ہے۔ ا نہوں نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور سمیت پنجاب کی دیگر جامعات کی سیلاب متاثرین کی مدد کے لیے جاری کوششوں کو بھی سراہا۔ کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور نے پہلا انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم برائے موسمیاتی تبدیلی، دیرپا ترقی اور تحفظ کے موضوع پرقائم کیا۔ جس میں سائنسز، ایگریکلچر، ویٹرنری اور سوشل سائنسز کے سائنسدان شامل ہیں۔ انہو ں نے کہا کہ موسمیاتی تبدیلی انسان پر بہت اثر انداز ہو رہی ہے جو ایک فرد واحد یا ایک ادارے کے کنٹرول میں نہیں۔ جب تک ہم سب ملکر اس پر کام نہیں کریں گے اس وقت تک موسمیاتی تبدیلی کے حوالے سے آگاہی نہیں پہنچا سکتے۔ ہمیں دیکھنا ہوگا کہ گزشتہ برسوں میں ہونے والی انڈسٹریل ترقی کی وجہ سے موسم میں کتنا فرق آیا ہے اور اب بہت تیزی سے موسم پر اثر انداز ہو رہا ہے کیونکہ اس کے اندر ایسی گیسوں کا امتزاج ہے جو موسم کو بری طرح اثر انداز کر رہی ہیں جس وجہ سے زمین کا ٹمپریچر زیادہ ہو رہا ہے۔ پاکستان میں ابھی تک انڈسٹری ترقی یافتہ ممالک جیسی نہیں ہے جیسے کہ بھارت، چین، یورپ اور دیگر ممالک  میں ہے جو ماحول کو زیادہ متاثر کر رہے ہیں لیکن اس کے اثرات ہمیں بھی متاثر کررہے ہیں۔ اسی لیے انٹرا یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم کو انٹر یونیورسٹی کنسورشیم میں تبدیل کیا گیا جس میں 50 سے زائد جامعات شامل ہیں اور جب گورنر پنجاب انجینئر محمد بلیغ الرحمن کو اس حوالے سے بریفنگ دی گئی تو انہوں نے بھی اس پروگرام کو بھرپور اندا زمیں جاری رکھنے اور ایک پلیٹ فارم مہیا کیا جہاں دنیا بھر کے ماہرین اس پر کام کر رہے ہیں۔ وائس چانسلر نے کہا کہ اس وقت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور میں بی ایس لیول پر 125 ڈگری پروگرام جاری ہیں جس میں ایگریکلچر، اینوائرمنٹل سائنسز بھی پڑھایا جا تا ہے اس کے ساتھ ساتھ ایم ایس کلائمنٹ چینج بھی شروع کیا گیا ہے کیونکہ ہمارا علاقہ موسمیاتی تبدیلی میں زیادہ متاثر ہورہا ہے۔ ہم نے چولستان انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ڈیزٹ سٹڈیز کا شعبہ قائم کیا جو چولستان میں ہونے والی موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں سے متعلق ریسرچ کرئے گا۔ یونیورسٹی میں اینوائرمنٹ سوسائٹی قائم کی گئی ہے جو یونیورسٹی میں ماحول کے حوالے سے آگاہی سیمینار اور پروگرام منعقد کرتی ہے۔ یونیورسٹی میں 3 میگا واٹ سولر پاور پارک قائم کیا گیا ہے جو یونیورسٹی کی انرجی ضروریات کو پورا کرنے میں مددگار ہے اور قابل تجدید توانائی کا اہم ذریعہ ہے۔
