Governor Punjab Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman visited the National Cotton Breeding Center during his recent visit to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, has made progress in the research activities of the university in the last three years, especially in the research related to agriculture, according to the national priorities. It includes major achievements of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in research on cotton, an integral part of the country's agricultural economy and textile industry, and the production and sale of new varieties. The Governor Punjab also expressed his happiness for the research on cotton, production of cotton seeds that combat climatic challenges and diseases and congratulated the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and the Director National Cotton Breeding Center Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Bandisha. On this occasion, it was informed that the cotton varieties of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are being cultivated on more than 40% of the agricultural area of Punjab and are of key importance in the revival of the multi-billion dollar agricultural economy and textile industry. Governor Punjab said that he will soon invite the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to a cotton advisory meeting at the Governor House.

گورنر پنجاب انجینئر محمد بلیغ الرحمن نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کے حالیہ دورے کے دوران نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ سنٹر کا بھی دورہ کیا۔ انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبو ب وائس چانسلر کی جانب سے حالیہ تین برسوں میں یونیورسٹی میں ہونے والی تحقیقی سرگرمیوں خصوصا ً زراعت سے منسلک تحقیق میں قومی ترجیحات کے مطابق پیش رفت ہوئی ہے۔ اس میں ملک کی زرعی معیشت اور ٹیکسٹائل انڈسٹری کا لازمی جزو کپاس پر تحقیق اور ان کی نئی اقسام کی تیاری اور فروخت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی اہم کامیابیاں شامل ہیں۔ گورنر پنجاب نے کپاس پر تحقیق، موسمیاتی چیلنجزاور بیماریوں کا مقابلہ کرنے والے کپاس کے بیجوں کی تیاری پر بھی خوشی کا اظہار کیا اور وائس چانسلر انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب اور ڈائریکٹر نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ سنٹر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اقبال بندیشہ کو مبارکباد دی۔ اس مو قع پر بتایا گیا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کی کپاس کی اقسام پنجاب کے 40 فیصد سے زائد زرعی رقبے پر کاشت ہو رہی ہے اور اربوں ڈالر کی زرعی معیشت اور ٹیکسٹائل کی صنعت کی بحالی میں کلیدی اہمیت کی حامل ہیں۔ گورنر پنجاب نے کہا کہ وہ جلد ہی گورنر ہاؤس میں کپاس سے متعلق مشاورتی اجلاس میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور کو خصوصی طور پر مدعو کریں گے۔
