A Panel discussion on "How to Create a Harassment-Free Workplace in Institutions of Higher Learning" was organized by the Office of the Chairperson, Committee to Deal with Cases of Harassment of Women at Workplace, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The panel discussion was joined by the high-profile panelists such as Engr. Prof. Dr. Eng. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, IUB, Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi, Vice Chancellor, BZU, Multan, Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal, Former Principal QAMC, Bahawalpur, Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, Women University Multan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, VC, Ghazi University DG Khan, Prof. Dr Sarwat Rasul, Faculty Advisor, Faculty of Social Sciences, FJWU, Rawalpindi, and Prof. Dr. Ra'ana Malik, Chairperson, Department of Gender Studies, University of the Punjab University, Lahore. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Chairperson of the Anti-Harassment Committee at IUB was the focal person and moderator of the Panel Discussion.  She started the panel discussion by sharing the key points of the policy of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan on “Protection against Sexual Harassment in Higher Education Institutions” for understanding prohibited conduct and mechanism of complaints, reporting, and implementation with the purpose to sensitizing the faculty, staff, and students about the issue of workplace harassment. She said that at the IUB, the Committee to Deal with cases of Harassment of Women at Workplace” is working to eliminate the gender-based violence, in order to provide equal opportunities and to maintain equality within the campus.  The distinguished panelist shared their insights on the issue and said that workplace harassment is an epidemic throughout global higher education systems and affect individuals, groups and entire institutions colossally. Work-place Harassment is unacceptable, everyone has a right to have a safe workplace with dignity. We must have a Zero tolerance for all forms of workplace harassment.  The discussion concludes that workplace harassment is an advanced form of disrespect. It is the responsibility of every individual to respect the differences among colleagues at the workplace. In a way, we will be able to develop and promote an environment in the higher learning institutions that will be conducive for learning and working together with respect and dignity.

بہاول پور (پ ر) کمیٹی برائے ویمن ہراسمنٹ کیسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیر اہتمام اعلی تعلیمی اِداروں میں ہراسمنٹ کیسز سے متعلق ا ٓن لائن پینل کا اہتمام کیا گیا۔ مزاکرے میں انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور،پروفیسر ڈاکٹر منصور اکبر کنڈی وائس چانسلر بہاؤالدین زکریا یونیورسٹی ملتان، ویمن یونیورسٹی ملتان،پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل وائس چانسلر غازی یونیورسٹی ڈیرہ غازی خان،پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جاید اقبال سابق پرنسپل قائداعظم میڈیکل کالج،پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ثروت رسول فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز فاطمہ جناح ویمن یونیورسٹی راولپنڈی اورپروفیسر ڈاکٹر رعنا ملک چیئرپرسن ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف جنڈرا سٹڈیز، پنجاب یونیورسٹی آف لاہور نے شرکت کی۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی چیئر پرسن ہراسمنٹ کمیٹی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور نے بطور فوکل پرسن ویبینار میں شرکت کی۔انہوں نے کہا کہ ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن آف پاکستان نے اعلی تعلیمی اداروں میں جنسی ہراسگی سے بچاؤ کے لئے اس ملازمت کی جگہ پر ایسے واقعات کی رپورٹنگ،ناپسندیدہ رویوں کی تفصیل اور انکوائری اور سزاکا مکمل طریقہ کار وضع کیاگیا ہے۔اس کا ایک مقصد کیمپسزمیں خواتین ملازمین اور طالبات کے خلاف منفی تشدد کا خاتمہ بھی ہے۔اس موقع پر پینل میں شریک ماہرین نے کہا کہ یہ ایک گلوبل مسئلہ ہے تاہم اس بارے میں شعور اور آگاہی پیدا کر کے بچا جا سکتا ہے۔یہ سبھی کی اجتماعی ذمہ داری ہے کہ اس بارے میں آگاہی حاصل کی جا ئے اور گائیڈ لائنز پر عمل کرتے ہوئے اس برائی کا تدارک کیا جائے تاکہ محفوظ اور پُر اَمن کیمپسز کو یقینی بنایا جا ئے۔
